Wow!!! Where did these last bits of info come from?? Some of you should know what you are talking about before you post. I was the owner of this car. I brought it to Mecum. First, the new guys including Dave rea assembled the car. Will did the final paint. Every single electrical item worked perfectly. I had about 50 so called mopar experts come look over every inch of the car because it was built by GYC. Everyone was amazed at the great gaps, the paint job and so much more. There were only 2 or 3 things some people mentioned that were supposedly wrong. Color or finish on a few bolts and blower motor. Galen Govier spent quite a bit of time looking the car over. His only complaint was that the paint was too shiny. His exact words. The car ran perfect and looked amazing. That is one of the reasons I decided to let it go. I drive all my cars often and this car was so beautiful I knew it would just sit in my garage. The reason it went for so much?? Sure, because it was done by GYC but also because it was such a nice car.

I like the show I just can't stand all the bull**** antics. Just restore the cars and stop playing to the camera like a bunch of idiots.

Two Mopar experts looked over the car for Wellborn at the auction, and said it was a sad pile that would have to be re-restored.  That Graveyard Cars did such a poor job on the body and fit and finish that the car would have to be completely re-blown apart and then put back together properly.  Not to mention that most of the electrical items didn't work either!

Only reason it went crazy on price is because it was a TV car, semi-rare, and auction fever.

You might want to do some better research next time.

Not having seen the car in person, I cannot comment on the fit and finish, however my comments are more about GYC and my utter distain for them. The show is a train wreck and while you could argue that the antics are encouraged by the producers for ratings and the audience, this is the same thing that Orange County did and ultimately got it canceled. Having said that and having watched just a couple of episodes, despite the BS on the show, they have made it clear that their collective knowledge of Mopars is minimal at best all the while stating repeatedly that they are "Mopar restoration experts" or worse the "best" in the business which obviously is not the case.

As a Mopar enthusiast the show is unwatchable, but like every American I can merely change the channel. That said, there are a number of respected people on this forum and in the hobby that have provided a number of examples of their poor quality restorations. For me the point is this; up until they had a show, no one in the hobby had ever heard of them, then they come on and make outrageous claims of being the best in the business. Well, when you make a claim you better be able to prove it and they evidentially have failed repeatedly, however now there is the issue of the value of a vehicle being inflated due to their involvement which I suspect for those who truly are "experts in the field" adds insult to injury. At the end of the day, if people pay more because a car was on TV despite its shortcomings, then so be it, however there will come a day when that artificial inflation will not hold the same value.

I think GYC is no worse than any other car show, I watch it. I watch a bunch and no show is really good IMO. But at least on GYC I get to see Mopars. Can anyone recommend a good car show?

I understand some people hate the show and some people love it. That doesn't  matter to me. What bothers me is not a single person asked me to turn lights on, start the car, or anything else electrical. I have been playing with cars for over 40 years. When the car arrived one tail light was not working. Loose connection. I would not allow it to go to Mecum with anything not working. Even the radio sounded incredible. Dave Rea whom I met did an incredible job of assembling the car. There was no rushing here. The car took 6 months longer then promised but mark and I always communicated and I had no problem with that.

Just wanted to,say that although the GYC show,does,have some silly and unnecessary antics, the crew there now is much better than past episodes.  70-6pack, I commend you for allowing them to,restore your car and of,all,people, you know if it was correct and in working order..  Congrats on the build.

I could not care less if their builds are exactly like the factory did it or not. I watch it to see the "nuts and bolts" of Cudas and Challengers and to see a 67 Hemi GTX convertible that I've never seen other than pictures. Marks antics I just buzz through. What other show is there to watch that does stock muscle car builds of any brand ?  Keep complaining and your going to be sheet outta luck.

This is what makes  great.. there are options. I cannot tolerate Mark's antics and self gratifying fabricated greatness and refuse to watch the show as a result.

I met Mark and Royal, sold Mark some parts for a car he built for my wife's cousin. A 340 block and pair of heads. They were looking for a date code correct but not having luck.
I've had zero luck trying to find a 10/69 date 340 myself and gave up a long time ago.

Would still like to find the original - 184371 stamped 340 block for my car though. So if you have it, I want it! 

I DVR all the episodes and fast forward through the commercials and some of the theatrics. Most of the time my laptop is what I am paying attention to and it's just background noise until they are doing something I find interesting. This season, I've only watched a few episodes, seems like its gotten better. Love to see only Mopars on a show.
Can't wait to see the A Body Barracuda. 

I had a chance to walk through the shop and see several cars at various stages. They are certainly able to produce some fine cars.
Cousin Bob LOVES his 70 340 Cuda... Tor Red, Go Wing, Louvers, Black Vinyl Top, Black interior, AT Console Car.
 
They had been friends before starting the Cuda for like 15-20 years and still are.
The show was only a local show when they started his car... 6-7-8 years ago? I've lost track...

Just watched a GYC one hour recap on this V code Challenger. Car turned out beautiful however the only thing I do not understand is why they used a narrow seem vinyl top as apposed to the correct wide seam top?
