Firewall Holes for Heater Hose
« on: July 30, 2014 - 09:20:03 AM »
Does anyone know what size these holes are?

I Am trying to buy body plugs for them as my car does not currently have heat but I am not sure of the size. I'm not near the car to measure.

Thanks!

I'll measure mine tonight, assuming the sizes for a 70 Challenger are the same.

that would be awesome! I assume they are the same. I need to drive the car a couple hundred kilometers and I seem to have spring an exhaust manifold leak as the gasket and this will save me from dying.

I plan to fix the exhaust manifold gasket but after this sweet car show, I have been trying for years to get to.

I measured the diameter at 15/16" for the top and 13/16" for the bottom hole.

Do you have a source for these? Seem like oddball sizes from my quick searches for them

I'm guessing the closest size grommet would fit work (+/- 1/16") : 1" or 7/8", and 7/8" or 3/4" ?  Probably on the + side for a tight fit.

Vintage Air provides those plugs in their kits so you could try them and buy them as spare parts.  Mine are already in or I would measure them for you.

Bought new in '71; I wanted the Challenger but they were $2850; too much $ so I got the 318, 3 speed on the floor, Twister Duster for $2100.

I ain't done yet.

Yeah, none of those are like those from Vintage Air, which are rubber; not metal or plastic.

I actually got a few grommets from my uncle who is an electrician and they worked out great. It's just a temporary solution till I put heat back in. I was planning on doing that over the winter.
