Mopar Nat's Heath cruise
« on: August 01, 2014 - 11:13:11 AM »
This is being discussed on Moparts.  I thought everyone here should be aware of it too.
http://www.newarkadvocate.com/story/news/local/2014/07/30/heaths-goal-improve-safety-super-cruise-event/13387415/

The PD is going to limit the cruise to one lane in each direction.  The locals are getting out of control and are making the cruise dangerous.  When this happened on Brice, we moved to Heath.  It looks like we need to think about moving again.  There is talk of moving a few miles to N. 21st street in Newark.  I'll probably check this out because it took for ever to get through the traffic on 79 last year with two lanes.  It will be even worse this year.

Quote
Hey guys, consider this: we all cruised Brice and when that got to be no fun we largely moved to Heath. Initially Rt. 79 in Heath was very low key, fun and mostly Mopars. Now that the locals have jacked that up, all we have to do is move again- and we don't have to go far. N.21st street in Newark is the equivalent to Rt 79 in Heath-4 lanes, restaurants, parking lots, etc. Clean & safe area. Only maybe 3 miles from Rt. 79 (Newark & Heath are basically the same town). Either go north on Parkview or 30th from Rt. 79 in Heath (if you take 30th, turn right on Main, left on 21st.) OR from Rt. 16 Newark take the 21st Street exit and turn north. Let the locals have Rt. 79. We've done this before. We can do it again.
See you on N. 21st.

Never did like the cruise in Heath.  I miss Brice Rd. from several years ago.

I wish it would go back to brice anyways. More room for spectators and easier to get into and out of the area.

Brice is a bad area after dark now. It doesn't sound safe.

So long, Heath. Thanks for some good memories. Maybe something else will open for us.

RUMOR has it that even the Nats at Thompson might be moving. And the MIS-management this past weekend....it sure should move.  What a let down as compared to Nats in the past. A LOT of vendors missing and not as many sellers in the swap area. Show field to the West was down considerably.

I agree that the Nats needs to move...if only for a few years.  When it's at the same place for so long, it can get boring.  They need a change of scenery.  That's the only thing that I think will save the show.  The judged side isn't even worth walking around the track to get to.  I went over there once for maybe a half hour.  The east side was still busy on Saturday.

Heath totally sucked. I will not be staying there again next year. I thought there wa sa good turnout of cars, swap meet participants  and car corral entries. Did anyone go down to brice on fri or sat night? it had to better than heath. Hopefully they do something to make ti fun again.

Brice...the roads were under construction.......not good. And Heath....my friend that has stayed there for years, told me his hotel would not let him book for next year (like they do every year) because they told him that the Nats might not be there next year. So I am taking that as a rumor....and also a lot of people are tired of the crap that goes with staying at Heath.
