I am looking for an OE style battery for my Cuda.  Where is the best place to get one at?

Mancini sells them as well.

Make sure to buy a good charger when it's in off season usage.
Inside, these are Optima batteries.

I recommend either a CTEK or Genius.

So around $230 is the going rate for these things, it sounds like.  Dang.  Hope it lasts for a long time.  Do the small blocks take the group 24's?

Mine was $219 shipped if I remember correctly.  Look up Fred Gilmore.  He had the best prices.  The repro batteries don't have a reputation of lasting very long.  Once it goes bad, you can cut the bottom out of it, gut the inside and install a smaller battery inside the case.  There are a few post on this on Moparts.

Thanks.  Yes, I've heard of Fred.  Sounds like he might be a few bucks cheaper.

Any estimates of about how much life one of these actually has in it, assuming it is properly taken care of?  The regular Autozone battery I have in my car now is around 8 years old and was sitting on a shelf in my garage a few of those years.  And it's still working great.

Just having to replace my lookalike agm redcap battery now. I seem to remember paying about $220 for it. It was holding 12.6 volts but wouldnt crank the 440. Tested at the corner auto parts place as "unstable" whatever that means. Mine is just about 4 years old, and I keep it on a battery tender most of the time, but I let it go dead a couple times over the past 6 months. Thats what probably did it in.

PS
Mancinis and summit no longer sell the "27" batteries, either discontinued or out of stock, and TurboStarts (the manufacturer) website is wacked out, so I have emailed Fred Gilmore to see if he still has them.
Hopefully these are still being made  :dunno:

Turns out that Fred Gilmore has lost his source, Axion. Seems they have decided to exit the classic battery business. :pullinghair:
I think classic auto battery is the only manufacturer of these now, and they are not only more expensive, starting around $280 plus shipping, but Fred Gilmore says they are cheap and the manufacturer doesnt stand behind it.
Maybe gut my current battery case and throw another battery inside it? but which one and what a mess that will make  :banghead:

I hope it works for you, but I suspect they wont be able to get the batteries, though there may be some in the supply chain somewhere. I'll check them out.
The $300 plus batteries are the ones still made by antique auto battery, which have universally BAD reviews.
The only show I now take my car to is the Florida Mopar Nats and that is 2 weeks from today, so if I cant find a decent replacement, I may try the "gut case install odyssey battery" route next weekend.
If I go that route I will take lots of pictures.
I understand its a messy job and takes lots of patience not to break the case.
