Developed one hell of a squeak/groan in right front
« on: August 06, 2014 - 07:35:55 AM »
started doing it slightly over the weekend but yesterday it was horrendous.  With my son bouncing the right front last night seems like its coming from everywhere.  Can actually feel it in the shock, upper control arm, sway bar, and the strut rod.

Was planning on disconnecting the sway bar links first, then bounce it to see if it stops.  Then take the shock loose and bounce and see if it stops.  Any thoughts on what to disconnect after that to check it?  There is no play up or down or fore aft in the wheel at all.

I also lubed down everything i could spray to see if it at least changed pitch or ferocity of groan.  NADA.   :dunno:

Lower control arm bushing?  Did you also grease the ball joints, tie rods?

I had a very loud grinding sound from my front end,

it was the K frame area, right where the pivot is for the lca,

the area had cracked on the k frame , had to weld up and make a reinforcement plate works fine now

Sounds like a worn out control arm bushing to me.
But I hope it's your shock - easier to fix.

took the shock loose, took the sway bar links loose.. Still groans like a cheerleader in the back seat of a car at the drive in.    Seems like Brad was right with the lower ball joint call.

Use a piece of wood (dowel, or cut off broom handle) or a long screw driver to act like a stethoscope to locate the noise. I.E, place it on the LCA or ball joint and have your son push on the car.

Did grease clear it up for you?
