Axle holding adapter for engine stand
« on: August 10, 2014 - 09:48:52 PM »
Due to very limited space and budget I've got an engine stand but no way to hold other parts (the rear axle) to work on.  Just saw this on ebay and was wondering if anyone has used something like this, and can comment on how well it works with an 8-3/4 weight axle on it.

what are you planning to do the rear end?

I plan to pull min out this winter, and I was just going to sit it on two axle / jack stands.

The housing will be cleaned up very thoroughly, inside and out.  Having it on a portable stand/carrier will make that much easier here.  I'm not sure about getting a finish on it, cosmetics are TBD but again I expect it'll be easier to work on mounted on its own little 'rotisserie'.  And of course the rear undercarriage will get cleaned up while the axle and springs are out.

Have not used one.  But I'll give you my two cents.

Those are awesome!
Great idea really and inexpensive.  I think I'll get a set.

Thanks for responding.  Please post when you get them...  I'd be interested in your experience with them (I might get one regardless, but it won't be right away).
