Wiring cleanup suggestions
« on: August 12, 2014 - 10:27:57 PM »
How do you guys keep your wiring clean and organized looking? Or how do you keep it out of sight?  I've added several electrical accessories and upgrades and need some suggestions.

I re-ran all my wiring through a black loom with electrical tape as needed.  My battery, MSD, and brake vacuum pump are in the trunk with a loom running against my inner fender, under my rocker, and into the engine bay through the mud flap on the driver side front inner fender.  I moved the starter relay down under the master cylinder and all wiring runs behind the engine to hide it.

Nice! Do you still have the alternator wiring running over the intake manifold?

It looks a lot nicer then the plastic wire loom.
:iagree:
I didn't search, does it come in bigger sizes? You would probably need some in the 3/4" & 1" size.

Yes, it comes in other diameters.  It also expands quite a bit.  It's like a Chinese finger trap.

I try to hide as much wiring I can .,I,m a fan of convoluted plastic split tubing. Its been around a while and the OEM and aftermarket use it alot. Has the advantage of adding wiring easily without fishing it all the way through the covering ,If you have to add something later ect. ect. I finish the ends with heat shrink . Looks nice

I believe the covering I posted the link to is available in a split design.  It does make installation a lot easier.

I'm probably going to use some of this stuff.

http://www.amazon.com/Techflex-PTN0-25BK25-General-Purpose-Braided/dp/B004UHJCFI/ref=pd_ys_sf_s_172282_b2_6_p?ie=UTF8&refRID=0F2W9WZ2V9VFWM5MQ124

It looks a lot nicer then the plastic wire loom.

I've seen other people use it/suggest it on the net .  Just wondering?... how does it compare to regular convoluted plastic loom in regards to protection, impact/abrasion? With it being split how do you secure it ? Electrical tape? Zip ties?  :clueless:

Is there interference issues with having the alternator wires and sparkplug wires all running in the same covered loom ? Assuming all wires are in good condition.
