Legendary Auto Interiors "Warranty"
« on: August 13, 2014 - 12:04:37 PM »
Warning to all of you who have or will purchase any Legendary Auto Interior product; they will NOT honor any warranty for you unless you have purchased the item directly from them. Even if you show them the "inspection" tag and show them their defect. They only honor warranties for those who purchase directly from them, including the big distributors.  They tried to explain the reason for that policy to me but it did not make any sense. I had to call a manager and he agreed to fix their mistake, after a week of my asking. They wanted information from Classic Industries, who I purchased the seat covers from; Classic said they sent the info; Legendary said they did not receive it.....big mess.  Anyway, so much for their "warranty"; it is worthless unless you jump through some major hoops.  I have never run into any other manufacturer who has treated me like this. Usually they are eager to fix any problem that they created in order to make it right. It took way too much effort in this case, to get Legendary to do the right thing.
The other 5 pieces of the seat cover set were great.

As you were told in your previous post you should have gone through Classic Industries for your warranty concerns.. Let them deal with it...

FWIW I've purchased from Legendary six times & two of those orders were not standard off the shelf deals... Everything has been perfect..  Can't say that about allot of other vendors in the Mopar hobby....

Easy for all you to tell me what I should have done; I did go to Classic as well as Legendary; since they are the ones who will do the actual repair; NOT Classic.  Classic certainly can't sew seat covers and they do not stock individual covers for replacements.  So you would have me send it back to Classic in California so they could send it to Legendary in New York when I am in the middle of them both? Makes sense. Not.  I am trying to save time.  I am glad that all of your products were defect free; mine weren't.

To me it's like you buy a Samsung TV at Walmart and right away it goes on the fritz...Do you call up Samsung and say "Hey I need you to fix my TV".....Heck no...You go to Walmart and demand a new one ! :2cents:

But hey...that's just my opinion....

I'm glad you're getting everything taken care of :drunk:

It's not the same thing as a busted TV for which there are plenty of replacements in stock at every Best Buy; Legendary is the one who has to fix it; Classic would only send it back to them for repair; I talked to Classic; Classic does not stock replacement pieces for upholstery sets. . I am not one to wait around for others to act; I want the one who caused the problem, and the one who would ultimately have to fix it; to do so quickly; and to honor their warranty. Which they are now going to do and quicker than if I had sent it to California first.
I find it hard to believe that you guys would just send it back to the retailer and wait for something to happen; I ain't that guy.

I can somewhat understand your frustration:  But I don't believe a week is a long time to get expensive and easily damaged items like interior items resolved, especially when it was basically dropped ship/stocked by a second party.

So its your choice:  If you no longer want to deal with the primary folks you dealt with, then go to the direct source to begin with in the future. I typically do that anyways, if the part is available as such, to avoid middleman type additional charges

Does seem a little ridiculous... I had a very similar situation on some ACC carpet I purchased through a dealer for better price. When I contacted ACC they said I had to deal with the seller, after submitting my issue to the dealer I was emailed a return label to ship TO: ACC who shipped the replacement item back to me.
Seems to me proof of purchase would be all that would be necessary for them to have handled  :screwy:

It only took a week to get them to agree to fix it because I managed it every day from both ends.  It was a matter of managing the communications between two big companies; something they are not good at.  They would not accept a proof of purchase; they wanted the original invoice from Classic, who said they e-mailed it but Legendary had no record of it; way too much drama.  The funny thing is, on day one, they admitted that the piece was defective and that they would fix it; just not for me, directly.
Why did I go to Classic to buy them? To save 20 percent, which was $150. Legendary has the piece now and hopefully, will fix it promptly.  My point in all this is this; I expect companies who make the best quality stuff, to honor their warranties without drama and bureaucracy. Fortunately, most of them do so, so they won't get talked about on the internet.  And some companies don't care.  That is life.

It seems lately that companies want to find a way to slither away from their responsibilities lately.

I've seen it way too many times.

and I bet if you had called Classic, you would have had this resolved already, and with much less effort on your part!! :2cents:

Seriously, you were not listening; I DID call Classic; they were willing to help me get it fixed: they would have to get the piece, and send it back to Legendary; Just like I did. Classic does not stock replacement pieces for Legendary seat cover sets.
So, you are suggesting I should have sent it to California, so they could send it to New York, and I am in the middle of the country. No, it was easier to go directly to the people who made it, and who were the only ones on the planet who could fix their mistake, which they are doing. (Have not got it back yet).
Still amazes me how some guys want to sit back and take the easy way, instead of the fast, direct way.

It seems to me that Classic is taking a smaller profit than Legendary, thus the lower price.  However Classic is taking a chance on losing some of that profit if they do have a warranty issue that can't be resolved with the manufacturer.  They are willing to take that chance.

Legendary, on the other hand, will gladly honour any and all warranty issues, so they have to make a bit more profit to cover those costs.

Repairing or replacing an item costs Classic little, other than some accounting and shipping.  Legendary takes the big hit.  I can understand Legendary wanting to make sure all the hoops have been jumped in this case, simply to make sure they are not having to pay for more than they should.

I agree it seems stupid from your point of view, but from Legendary's it makes sense.  Classic can undercut them because there is no risk to them.
