I'm not surprised by your decision.  It happens to us Mopar people all the time.  "Got to tear it all the way down and do it right."   :roflsmiley:

Darn, was hoping to see where you went with "unrestored driver" idea. That's what I'm thinking of doing with my car as it's not too bad and doesn't need a full resto yet, want to keep it driving aslong as possible...

but I know it'll probably come to this also  :(

How about this car....It was restored 20 years ago.....and I was driving it today, so that makes it a driver

I was in the same spot 18 years ago with my car. It was 20/20 car and didnt look to bad by itself. Then i went to a local car show and after looking at the nice cars and then mine there was nothing else i could do but redo the whole car. Its a lot more fun when you drive a car that looks good.

Good luck with it!  Organization is KEY.  Label everything and take hundreds of pictures. :picture:  Keep each subassembly together in one piece until you are ready to restore it.  Work on one subassembly at a time.

We bagged and tagged everything as it came off. That and we took lots of pictures.  All interior bags I one box. Exterior bags in another and engine compartment in a third box.  While the car is at the body shop I plan to go through each bag one by one to clean and repaint what needs to be done.

It took about 6 days, with 2 or 3 of us working anywhere from 3-6 hours a day.  Now it is ready to go to the bodyshop and put on a rotisserie.  Just lack the back glass and suspension.  I figure it will take us 6-8 months to get it back together. Maybe longer but I have no set goal on, "it has to be done by......".  This is a family project and it will get done when it gets done.

That's 6-8 months after we get it back from the body shop.  But if it does not get done by cruzin' season....Well I got that covered already..... :2thumbs:

Wish you luck in avoiding BSH.. If I ever finish the two I have in progress I'll never do it again... Mechanicals were easy, quality parts are getting harder to find but I believe it's still doable,  Interior has probably gotten easier in the past ten years... Body Shops... :swear: :swear: :swear:.. I've threatened to do it myself but honestly I like my stuff nicer than I'm capable of making it....
