1970 challenger 383 fc7

Wondering what this project is worth. 1970 383 fc7 car that needs work. Rust in quarters and a hole in rear drivers frame rail. Tag says a plum purple car maybe white interior? but the car looks like it has always been blue? Owner has a 72 for parts or can buy just thr 70. He has some parts but not everything. 

The seller bought the car off the original owner but says back in the day the guy had that crush velvet installed on the dash and they took the tag off and it was lost. Since then he has got a British Columbia issued vin and has paper work saying it is linked to this car and insurable.  He hasent verified the body stamping he said. He also said I can use the paper work and fender tag to get a reproduction one? I'm leary about all this as the paint doesn't seem to match the tag?
Has original 383 but not original trans as someone started to swap a 4 SPD in. Here's a few pictures.

If there's no sign of purple paint, I'd be checking the body stampings pretty close.

Looks to me like the underside of the trunk lid is FC7.

Well, it appears to be an early build LA car. An R/T 383 Auto Plum Crazy with a White Interior and stripe.  interesting option is the AM-8 track. nothing unusual, so value is not great, but it is at least a JS code car.  What I find odd is the stamping for the data plate is not your typical LA style, and more like a Hamtamck style.  not sure why, maybe somebody can clarify for an August 22 build date.

I see FC7 on the tail panel also. The fender tag is painted the same blue as the car its probably legit. FC7 and white interior and stripe is pretty cool. If you're up for a big project and the body stamping match you might want to take a better look. Maybe he'll take $3k....

I think I'll pass on it. There is another 70 cuda 340 shaker car around here. The guy with the challenger is motivated to sell

Or info on the Cuda if you are going to pass on that one? I had almost given up on finding an E-body I have been starting to look at B-body cars too.

Where are you seeing a white stripe? The V68 (Stripe Delete) is pretty clear....

I am feeling kinda desperate for a project to work on but.....if I have never actually completed a resto before is this one a bit much to take on?   I work a 4 on 4 off shift so I have a bit of time. I will tackle anything mechanical but I'm not a bodyman so I have to pay for all body work I'm thinking. I have lots of lazy teenagers but that doesn't help    Any opinions??
