Cars driving great but sometimes hesitates to start, starter keeps clicking then finally goes. Figure it might be time for a new starter, no biggie. This isn't the issue...

When I turn off the car, it's in neutral and I turn the key to the off position, it hesitates almost sounds like it's stalling then I hear a clunk and it shuts down. What is this? It's a completely new behavior, I haven't done anything to the car... :dunno:

I'd bet it's not the starter, more likely a poor connection or bad battery cable.

Sounds like your engine is dieseling on shut down. Several thing can cause this, one being carb. butterflies not closing.
