Manual windshield washer pump mounting location
« on: August 16, 2014 - 03:02:09 PM »
I'm looking for a picture of a mounted manually operated windshield washer pump. I searched the site and came up empty.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a mounting location stamped into the firewall with two screw holes.  My car has electric washers but the screws for a manual pump were still installed in the firewall.  My guess is that all cars had those screws installed.  Here is a pic...

Here's a pic of mine in a 71 Challenger. I can post a closer shot if needed.

Holy smokes, I think you just answered my question before I even had a chance to post it.

My 68 Cuda (purchased 3 weeks ago) has 2 switches on the floor.  The lower one is the dimmer, which has to be fixed but that's another story.  There's an upper switch that has more rubber around it.  I tapped it a few times and it 'felt' like it was pumping something.  Is this the manual washer pump?

I didn't see hoses leading to any washer nozzle on the hood.  Does anyone have pix of what that might look like?  I don't know what the original set up is supposed to look like, let alone how to get everything working again.

Yes, that is your manual washer pump.  Your A-body doesn't have squirters on the hood.  They are in the cowl and squirt through the slots.
