25 Years ago this weekend.
« on: August 17, 2014 - 05:50:46 PM »
Well it was 25 years ago this "Discovery days" long weekend I traded a 1/2 Dodge 1/2 chevy 4x4 staright across for my challenger. The old 4x4 was going to need another set of expensive tires and I wanted another mopar when I spotted this ad in the Canadian Auto Trader...
He aggreed to drive from Edmonton to Grandprarie and I would Drive the Alaska Hwy to mile 0 and meet him there...
Unfortunatly this is the only photo I have of both as I arrived late and it was snowing like crazy. Sure enough there was 6 inches of snow on the ground the next morning so I was late leaving but had a grin from ear to ear!
25 years later and I still do...even if you cant tell some days while working on her.

That old truck was kind of like a job wasn't it. You can get one that provides your needs or one you enjoy. A wise man gets the one he enjoys-congrats on the 25 years! I will be driving my Superbird up your way next summer on a long road trip to Skagway ALaska with my son-the word isn't out yet on the Superbird board but planning has begun. Would love to see that Challenger!

Would be a thrill to meet you and see a winged warrior in person! Skagway is a favorite drive for us locals, just have to get a passport these days. :hyper:

Thanks-official announcement coming this weekend after details accepted by the lady in our kitchen. I have decided to do Fairbanks on the Alcan instead of Skagway because of the mountains and the 45 year old Superbird's brakes. We had brainstorming last night on mounting a GoPro camera on the rear wing and recording the whole trip. Looks like late June/early July. More to come, and thanks for the reply. I am following VT's progress with great interest!

I would swap on at least the 11.75 Cordoba discs in front seeing as you are driving it &  keep the original parts if you want to put it back to stock .
I have seen 4" of snow on the first weekend of Aug in Calgary far south of where you were so yeah it can snow any day or every day year round !
