Mike & Ron's setups are slick.  But wow, $9K is a bit rich for me.

Did a quick look at the Terminator.  Does it only fit a 950?

Well on my 71 cuda i have the msd atomic efi which is good up to 600hp and the kit is about 2500 for everything and i love it easy to install and also quick throttle response and looks like a 4brl carb.I had a 6pk on my car a standard one not fuel injected  and was always tuning it but not with this it learns on its own you cant beat it for the money.

With EFI air flow doesn't matter , the air flow doesn't mix or suspend the fuel , we used a 1200 CFM Throttle body on a 440 .
 You definatly want multi port EFI not T body injection so the fuel is injected right behind the intake valve

Did a quick look at the Terminator.  Does it only fit a 950?

Mine was closer to $5500 as I did all of the installation myself.

$2200 manifold and throttle bodies, linkage and fuel rails
$1700 for FAST EFI Module and wiring harness (used)
$1600 for associated parts, fuel injectors, pump, lines, regulator, and sensors, and distributer , etc.

Quite a few members here on CC have documented their EFI conversions in threads on this board. Look up members "Quagmire", "71340RT", and "Shelbydogg" among others to view their conversions. Shelbydogg has done a couple of them and at least one of them was relatively low-buck but still totally effective. Good luck.

Thanks.  That'll be a useful way to approach it.

Spoke to my mech today who's working on the car as we speak.  Carb's been tuned, looks like it was actually running lean (vs what I thought) but the idle was set way too high.  Apparently, there's no choke but I don't see that as a big problem because it doesn't get that cold in the San Francisco Bay Area.

He said he has a tremec 5 speed so I assume it's an OD?
I have 3:55 with a 4L60 auto OD and wish I had went with 3:73. Engine is not "happy" running at 2000rpm @60 mph it likes 75-80 better. I get 17 MPG on the hwy if I take it easy.

I have 3:73's and an OD tranny... seems like a sweet spot for my 360...  also put in the FAST EZ-EFI (ver. 1) throttle body efi system...  I'm getting 19 mpg on road trips...
the cold starts are flawless... If you go efi look into the Edlebrock fuel sump...  I love the thing and wish I'd bought it up front in stead of messing with external pump/regulator, etc.

I converted my Cuda to EFI many years ago by adapting the 5.0 Mustang's fuel injection system from Ford. I originally installed this set up on a mild 360 that originally came in my Cuda. I was tired of the Demon carburetor I was using. I was always making adjustments on it and I wanted the precision of EFI. If your car is not going to be used on a regular basis, you might consider staying with the carburetor until you get the rest of the vehicle way you want it to be. Switching to EFI isn't cheap and our older cars could use upgrades everywhere (suspension, steering, bodywork, electrical work, interior work, etc.) I didn't see a massive difference in fuel economy.  Putting a transmission in your vehicle with overdrive will have more of a positive effect on fuel economy than switching from a carb to EFI.

Through the years, I've made many changes to my engine. It is now a Vortech supercharged 408. The precision that EFI offers over a carburetor with my current setup is unbelievable. I'm running between 9 and 15 pounds of boost on a 408 that has incredible drivability, reliability and road manners. I couldn't run my current setup with a carburetor.  I would highly recommend EFI if you are considering any type of force induction. Even though I'm running 3.23 rear gears and I'm using and A518 automatic transmission, fuel economy isn't great. I get about 17 – 18 mpg on the highway. Again, an overdrive transmission made a more noticeable impact on fuel economy than switching to EFI.

When I converted my Cuda to EFI years ago, there wasn't many aftermarket options. Today however, you have many options to choose from when considering which EFI setup is best for you and what you intend to do with your vehicle.
Cuda 408, Ford EFI, Magnum heads, Vortech V-2 Si-Trim, A-518 transmission and 3.23 gears.
