Sway Bar Install??????
« on: August 18, 2014 - 10:40:16 PM »
Yes I have another suspension question!!!

I need to reinstall my sway bar,  I noticed that the ring on the passenger side sway bar tab is broken, pic below:

I assume these rings are in there for a reason and should be fixed.  If so, where do I find the rings???

there is no ring in there , could be a wear groove with the bushing beat out

hmmm interesting, there are rings in both tabs.  I can move them in the holes.

I would just weld it up and drill it out :2cents:

I always assumed that "ring" was just part of the stamping process.  Maybe there is an insert that was pressed into the hole?  Either way, just put some welds on it and grind it back down.

Yeah about that....the car is together, the control arms are all painted.  Oh and I don't have a welder.

I was hoping this was an easy fix...but maybe not.

Then I'd just put it together.  The bushings will compress and hold everything together.  You could mix up a little JB weld and smear it on the area.

"Shoulda put a ring on it"....

Heh, normal wear nothing to worry about unless that area has lost significant thickness due to wear.

Well the ring part is gone completely in that small area.

The actual mounting pad does not have any noticeable wear.
