Interior Heat Barrier ?

My car has no insulation and gets really hot inside. I've seen lots of posts about Dynamat, but has anyone tried this stuff .....

Is Dynamat the best for heat insulation ?  Seems like its applications refer to sound and don't say anything about heat.

I just did this with amazing results, I used a product from DEI since i've had good luck with their products in the past... I was going to use the same product as before but since the application was a little different I decided to contact DEI for a recommendation... they suggested this product...

Before I had an uncomfortable amount of heat entering the interior of my car.. Now the floor/firewall are at ambient temperature no engine heat at all....

The stuff is 1/2" thick which mostly isn't an issue but I did have to do some trimming of the pad around the console to get the console to sit down properly...

I'm using the same thing. 
Did the firewall and once the weather cools down, I'll do the rest.

My 71 Cuda was hot, no insulation.  But the hottest car I ever had was a BB 69 Vette.  What I used on both was the stuff you can get in home depot/any large building supply store:  Its basically bubble wrap surrounded by thin aluminum foil of both sides.  Its about a 1/4" thick and cheap . Its very easy to cut and form along the lines of the floor pans and any common spray adhesive works very well

The stuff works great . I use the same stuff on the exterior of my water heater in the house as well

Dont forget the inner roof.   You wouldn't believe how many hard top owners who have removed thier headliners tore out the old roof insulation and didnt replace it with some sot of insulation

   I've got ALOT of that stuff left over from the pole buildings built on my farm.

My car is all black, I used dynamat extreme on roof. It still got pretty warm to the touch in the summer, until I installed dynaliner. I used 1/2 inch stuff and it is great.  I used it on the floor too

I used fat mat mega mat found on ebay. Ran the car with and without it, what a difference in sound and heat. I put it everywhere including the firewall before dash install, cowl, roof, doors, speaker shelf, trunk divider cardboard, qtr panel area behind qrt glass. Sounds too cool when you close the doors with the windows closed, almost like a late model.

I used dynamat but not on the entire car. I guessed if I ever need to remove it....    plus that stuff adds a ton of weight. For sound you really dont need to cover all panels in full. It`s amazing what a few square inches per panel do with sound and vibration.  I did the entire firewall and front floors, and the roof. After that I covered firewall and all floors with 1 cm oldschool felt insulation. Used some double sided tape to keep it in place.  No heat inside whatsoever, and it`s cheap.

Another option would be to use vycor or any other type of self adhering EPDM or butyy flashing that you can pick up in your local big box home improvement center. Then you can install your closed cell foam insulation material over top of that.  This is something I read in another forum for sound and insulation.  The closed cell you can get here. http://www.carinsulation.com/

White carpet padding; won't soak up moisture like felt will.  And 3M spray adhesive.

Just a quick mention, I know a lot of guys use stuff from hardware stores. But please double check the flammability of those. On a different car I was working on we lit a small piece of insulation on fire from Home Depot and it was almost impossible to extinguish.

Very good point I didn't think about. 

Although I didn't go that route, still worth mentioning.

I've also heard folks use hvac flashing, definitely a cheaper route but don't know how it ranks.
