I believe it is L5, Butterscotch (Dodge) or Bahama Yellow (Plymouth) same color just different names depending on whether you are talking Plymouth or Dodge.

Here is a quote:
"from my perspective, its like a deeper mustard yellow. I don't know the exact shade at this time, but is supposed to be a sherwin Williams school bus yellow, industrial color.  don Johnson, when starting this show up requested a car like he had seen in a book, one of Otis chandler's cars, a '71 lemon twist hemi convertible cuda, automatic, with white interior. apparently, that shade was too light for filming, so the car(s) were repainted a darker shade. still looks nice."

that one actually does look like bahama, but it looks very different from the cars used in the show. Those weren`t even close to that  :grinno:

The TV cameras bleach out the paint color.  They had to paint them a darker color so they would look lighter on camera.  The guy I bought my Dart from was one of the guys who built the original three cars for the show.  That's what he told me years ago...before the show even came out.

This was brought up before.
For the umpteen time it is Caterpillar Fleet Yellow..... I will try to locate the web history on it...

This 1970 'Cuda convertible was one of 64 built for sale in Canada with the 340 and automatic. This car was found by Don Johnson in Canada and converted to a 1971 'Cuda 340 with a 4-speed manual. This was the 3rd car to be converted for the TV show Nash Bridges. For the show, the car was painted Lemon Twist Yellow. However, after shooting the pilot for the show, producers were concerned the yellow may not show up on screen properly. After looking through several yellows, the final color became Caterpillar Fleet Yellow. Once the show left the air, Don Johnson purchased the car for his personal use until he sold it at Barrett-Jackson in 2003. From the Brett Torino Collection.

this has nothing to do with Nash Bridges.  But, I visited the Ducati Motorcycle Museum in Bologna Italy a couple of years ago.  They had a display of their MotoGP bikes in a row.  The early ones looked Ducati Red.  The current ones were more of an orange color.  The description said they were changed in color because the way the digital tv displays it.  So the color was changed in real life so the bikes appeared the correct red on the TV.  This was done because more people follow GP racing on TV than live at the track and Ducati wanted the correct red to be associated to their product.

Here is a link on the web that claims this is the real story behind the Cuda's for the Nash Bridges show.  http://www.lowtek.com/nash/cudas  I'm not sure how true or untrue it  is   :dunno: but I think it is interesting reading none the less.

What I do know is true is that Ed Briggs was a big Cuda collector at the time.  The guy I bought my Cuda from bought the car from Ed.  He showed me pictures of my car when he bought it from Ed as well as he had some pictures of the other cars Ed had at his house at the time. Some years ago I tracked down Ed to see if he had any info on my car.  He remembered my car and told me who he bought it from but did not have any further information then that as he bought the car just to flip it for some quick cash.

Beware of what Barett Jackson ever says:  They pretty much just pass on whatever the current owner/seller says.  The resto book I have also says the TV show cudas were painted a "darker yellow" because of "filming washout", although the exact color yellow in not mentioned. Who knows, maybe school bus yellow? :)
