Fuel vapor canister
« on: August 30, 2014 - 11:53:43 PM »
I'm not sure and don't remember if my 71 RT had a vapor canister or not. I need to buy my fuel lines and Y1 sells sets for the can or without. I have the 4 port ecs gas tank. Does that help? Where does it mount if I need one and where do I find one? Just trying to save every penny I can. Thanks

Have you priced lines from Fine Lines? That's where I would recommend getting them. I'm not sure who supplies Year One. Look up and see what Fine Lines offers for your car.

All 71's have evap/vapor separator... There should be a tube between the right wheel well & the filler pipe...

Open your trunk and look to the right...Big funky tube there....

Unless YearOne is giving you 30% off this weekend, I too, would go with FINE LINES INC :2thumbs:

When I did my trunk floor and fuel system on my '71 Chally, I left the tube off because I did not like the way it looked in the trunk.  I just tied off the 4 ports on the tank to each other and bought a 3/8" main line with a 1/4" return from Quanta (but there are many other vendors).  I was having some issues with a lot of pressure being released when I pulled of the gas cap, so I put on a vented cap under my flip top cap to allow the vapors to escape.  Other than filling up the tank slowly when it is near empty I have no issues now.

I do have the "big ugly tube". So that is the can. Huh I was thinking of one of the "coffee can" style ones that go in the engine bay. So I guess I'm good. I will check Fine Lines. Thanks for the heads up.

And here I was going to ask what that extra tube was on the tank. Learn something new everyday.
