Borgeson power steering?

Has anyone used the modern Borgeson power steering box made for Mopars?

I've had mine for well over a year and haven't had a single issue. Other than it being more expensive than the stock box, I can't think of anything to fault it for. It's smaller/lighter than the original and is night and day difference between the borgeson and a stock gearbox as far as 'feel' goes. I would say it is one of the top mods I've done to my car and would do it again in a heartbeat. I have heard people complain about drilling the column and supposedly there are fitment issues on some applications, but Bergman makes a stock style couple for those who don't want to drill their columns and I had no fitment issues....

Hmmmm, that's interesting. With all the mods that seem to be necessary I'm starting to lean back to the Firm Feel or Steer and Gear. At least I know it really will be a bolt in unit.

Sorry to dig up an old post, but I'm about a week away from sending the guys over at Firm Feel my steering box to get re-rebuilt (had a local shop rebuild it before I discovered Firm Feel and their heavier stages) and just stumbled across this setup. I hate the easy steering feel of a stock box, hence why I'm willing to pay to get the box rebuilt again. Unfortunately with my striker build, I bought TTI headers that are incompatible with quick ratio arms. While this isn't as fast as quick ratio arms, it sounds like a nice middle ground for me.

So has anyone continued to follow any news on this Borgeson/Bergman box? I just bought new pitman arms (and I think they were small sector since I have a 70 and didn't realize the large sector were cheaper) so sounds like the small sector up ismy plagued with the same issues? Any advice?

I went with Firm Feel Stage 2 and fast ratio arms.  If you go with FF and original arms you might consider stage 3.   :dunno:

The FF people are great to talk too and can help with choices. 

No experience with Bergman.  :clueless:

No doubt about it, customer service with Firm Feel is great. I've spent quite a bit with them already, and am getting ready to ship them my K member for strengthening and powder coating. I'm just not sure what to do with the steering box just yet. And the Moparts thread has gone cold since mid December...

Best thing I ever did. Was a bit wary after reading some problems with other fitments, but had Zero issues. Definitely worth purchasing the Bergman coupling as well for a bolt up fit in IMHO. Pricey, but worth every cent.

Well this muddies the water on my decision further... I want less turns lock to lock. Stock box with quick ratio arms requires 2 and 3/4 turns. How many would it be with this Borg box? I imagine Borg box + quick ratio arms would be rather twitchy on the freeway...

No , I'm building my own k-frame with a rack.  I'm a little "shy" on these boxes due to quality control/fitment  issues ,and still not sold on welding the mounting plates on. I have to admit I've never heard of a report of one breaking at the welds though.  As I understand it they use/need 3 boxes to make one Mopar unit. I understand the price from that view point but still not willing /wanting to be their R&D department on my dime. The earlier small sector shaft boxes seem to be fine as far as the pitman arm goes, it's the large sector shaft that was the problem.
For that kind of money I'd want a all new box with no used parts.  I applaud there efforts but I'd say they dropped the ball in production quality. That makes me wonder what else that I can't see...?  :-\

Brad, would you go with FF Stage 3 rebuild of your original box instead of the Borgeson?  Rack is even more pricey to convert to and I don't auto-cross.

I have the FF stage 3 box in mine now with the fast ratio arms. I find it nice, not to stiff at all.  :2thumbs:
