Anyone build their own exhaust?

I am wanting to build a new exhaust system for my cuda as the one that was built locally for my car is probably the worst POS possible. It hits the chassis and the rear axle, and has some cheap glasspacks that are probably the pinch point of the system.

Anyway, has anyone built their own? Any tips or tricks to offer?

I bought a Magnaflow then like others cut and shut to suit, particularly from the mufflers back up and over the diff etc, I also mounted some 6", magnaflows either side of the gas tank

Put in a 2.5" Pypes stainless system & headers, doesn't come with head pipes, I had to fab collector to exhaust connection otherwise pretty straightforward.

I also used the stainless magnaflow system. Had to buy a mandrel bend and make one pipe fit my header but overall and happy with it. I've built a few exhaust systems from scratch, use mandrel bends, it's not hard to do.

I used the magnaflow supplied muffler hangers and the factory Cuda rear hangers with an adapted pipe clamp that also is adjustable so as the tips can be located perfectly in the valance cut outs

Didn't use the supplied hangers as they would require drilling new holes so I picked up a couple of Walker brand hangers at Autozone that would adapt to the OE positions for over the axle & went with reproduction OE for the tail pipe.

I would have liked to do that but my car only had a hanger on the left hand side so I had to drill in anycase on the right hand side, only two holes per side, easy enough to plug should I have to.

Speaking of exhaust, a stock exhaust from a 2010 charger rt wouldn't be an upgrade to my 2011 chally se would it....

I've been thinking about rigid mounting the exhaust to the car with flex pipe between the headers and the start of the exhaust pipe. Any thoughts on this?

I've built them before and I think the most important part is to get under the car and measure everything out and draw up the way you want the system so you can find the proper pieces needed to build it.

There's a couple of different types of flex exhaust pipe, the lightweight stuff is junk, the better stainless braid is very expensive and I wasn't sure it would have been flexible enough to do what I needed, I did look at that option.

Anyone ever mockup their exhaust with pvc pipe for cheap reassurance? I've seen custom headers done like this before, crossed my mind when I go down this route..
