Those that have SSB rear disc, Whats with the E-brake?
« on: September 06, 2014 - 12:52:49 PM »
I am perplexed as to how to make the e-brake cables work with the ssb rear disc setup. It's supposed to use the factory cable setup but it just doesn't have the length to reach the 2 hooks. (One from the trans member and the long one from the pass side frame hole.) So I must have got sent the wrong set or is it possible that the cable mounts at the rear of the car have to be cut off and re-welded more forward to free up the slack of the drum cable?

Just throwing a bump at this. I thought I had the cables figured out but turns out not. The cable from the caliper to the intermediate cable are long enough IF I don't use the eyelet mount on the body. If I do and I need to for the brakes to work, the cable shield now makes the cable too short. There was never any directions for the e-brake cables with the SSB kit. I'm going to try and cut off about 3in of the shield but that never works out well. I just don't know how they didn't know about this and offer a cable that is correct. Does anyone else know of or have this problem too?

So I tried the extender route first. It worked but still maintained the same issue of also having too much slack behind the body mounted bracket.  The cable was bent so much that it would hit the wheel. So I carefully cut about 4" of the shield off and it seems to be working ok. I just wish there was a proper cable.

Sure did.

Had cables from my rear disc kit were just like yours. One long enough and the other too short.

Cass can set you up!
