1970 Convertible top anti-rattle plates
« on: September 09, 2014 - 01:15:45 PM »
Does anyone know of a source for the white plastic convertible top anti-rattle plates, specifically for 1970? Legendary used to carry them, but they have been discontinued. I understand 1971s could be used instead, though they have screw holes, where the 1970 used clips. I prefer the latter but cannot locate them. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Have you looked at R/T Specialties?  I got them for my Dart there.  Not sure if they have the E-body ones.

I left a message for him earlier. Waiting to hear back. Couldn't find them on his website, but I am hoping.

I highly doubt you'll hear back from R/T Specialties.  He's a one man operation and doesn't get back to people very well.  I'd try calling again.   :2cents:

They are on ebay right now for a 71 but says to fit a 70.

Right. 1971's are available, but like I said in the first post, they have screw holes instead of clips like I understand were used in 1970. Other than appearance, my concern in using 1971's is while they will fit, there would apparently be nothing to hold them in place other than gravity.

Am I off base here?

Thank you. I spent several hours searching but the few sites that listed them said they have been discontinued.

I bought a pair of 71s for my 70 and they do have the little tabs that hold them in. They worked fine on my 70. The screw holes are just empty.
I thought about getting another pair and filling the holes but the holes really don't bother me...

Thanks, Randy, Tom and all. I am going to have to go with the '71s. I heard back from R/T Specialties and he said everyone had been getting them from Year One before they were discontinued.

Hey Randy,
Can you post a pic of your anti-rattle plates installed?
I'm trying to figure out how they differ from 71. I'm needing them also, for my 71. Just wanting to see how the 70 looks.

I bought mine here for my '70 challenger.
New pair of convertible top anti rattlers. These go on top of the windshield where the locating pins go in. These are correct for a 1971 with the screw holes in them, but will work on a 1970 as well.     Price:US $34.99 Shipping: $3.36 Standard Shipping  Seller : dodgeboy (45648 )  About dodgeboy  99.9% Positive feedback
