A resurection of sorts. 1970 Challenger RT/SE - V code car

What say fellas, I haven't been on here in what seems like forever.
But the fact I have an E body in the shop , thought I would post a few pics.

It's a real deal 440 six pack RT/SE Challenger, although it was originally a super-performance Auto with 4.10 Dana car. It's been a 4 speed since at least late 70's since the car has been in the area. Present owner bought it approx 1990-91 time frame. Drove it a few years and parked it in late 93' early 94' time frame.

Well,,he drove it last friday for the 1st time in nearly 21 years.

My job was get it running, no exterior or interior was planned.
Goal was get it running and driveable again. Plus put a new trunk floor to give to something to hang the exhaust on. New exhaust, tires and rebuild the engine back to stock. It's not the numbers block,,that dis-appearded we think early 70s' . As a buddy of mine has known about the car since approx 1977 and it didn't have the original engine in it then.

A complete all new sixpack setup was ordered thru Sixpack Perfomance and installed. Intake manifold thru aircleaner

And yes, I am aware the intake and pcv valve should be engine color,,,owner likes it this way ,,so this is the way it'll stay.

Pulled it outside last friday morning under it's own power ,,for the 1st time in nearly 21 years.

We drove it to get the exhuast replaced this past friday and picked it up monday afternoon,,,,,,it sounds sweet .

Owner stopped by today with his 'other' car for a few pictures while I had the challenger outside,,, and yes it's real.

Well, another one comes to life ,,it's gone  and all I have is a parting shot.

He fired it up and drove it home sunday afternoon. to say he was all  giddy would be a huge understatement .

It's far from perfect , while in my care exterior wise nothing changed. It does have a tad bit of rust in the lower quarter right behind the door,,,,,,,But He plans to drive the snot out of it just the way it is as time allows. Then maybe next year or 2 we'll address the rust and do a exterior repaint. Considering the exterior was painted in 1986 and has not been touched since,,,it cleaned up pretty well.

Although I will probably get it back in the next month or so to address a few bugs ,,( I think I have a valve cover leaking on the drivers side,,,not real impressed with the so called improved style gaskets )

Nice job in getting the old girl back and running again.
Curious, did you address the trunk issue yet?  Did you do anything with the gas tank?
Usually, a car sitting that long has issues with the tank, stale fuel.
I'm at the same stage, I just want to get my car running again. A66 Challenger vert has been sitting since 1984.
I also have similar issues; trunk floor is shot, small rust on bottom,back of both quarters.  Rest of car is solid.

Trunk floor I had to replace due to rust. I used one of the AMD 2 piece pans and painted only the section replaced. There are some pinholes in the trunk floor to quarter extensions . But those will be addressed at a later date . Doing anymore to the trunk floor extensions was out of budget at this time. Owners primary concern was get it back on the road

Gas tank was also replaced with a new sprectra tank. As well as every fuel and brake line - front to rear.  I used Finelines steel lines and hoses, Rebuilt both calipers as well as a new master cylinder and wheel cylinders
