1970 thru 1972 E-body sunroof cars
« on: September 11, 2014 - 08:25:05 PM »
All,
Been gathering information on early power sunroof Mopars ever since I liberated a 1971 sunroof Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus from a salvage yard in 2012. Here are the 1970 through 1972 Challengers that I have run across so far, along with the one year only 1972 Barracudas - just follow the links. I will update this page every once in a while as additional cars are discovered. If any of these links are broken, please send me a PM and I will get them fixed. If you would like to add a sunroof car to one of these pamphlets - just send me a PM!

Enjoy! Scott.

Had a sunroof Duster lined up and the seller backed out. Next time I saw it, it was on ebay for $10k more. Had not been touched jus a lot more pictures. I figure someone convinced him to let them "Help him sell it for more"... I've seen in on the web several times now but the asking price was stupid high. He had agreed to $4,500 which was a fair price for the condition. Project car that needed every thing but a solid driver. Yellow, Black half Vinyl top 318 sunroof car.
It was on ebay for $14,500 :scared:

I don't think that you could get a half vinyl top on any e body.  Not that I know of anyway.

I've seen half tops on two , but I'm pretty sure they were custom.

1972 was the only year for sunroof's in cuda's.   Not that many around really.

4500 was a good price.  Here is yet another one of those, "Rare does not equal valuable" case's.

Can't wait to read some more about these cars, sdweatherman.

I took a couple photos of a 70 Challenger R/T sunroof, gator grain top car in the parking lot of the hotel I was staying at for the 2014 Mopar Nationals.  I didn't see the car at the show, so these were the only photos I got.

You probably have seen a few more - these are just the ones that I have run across on the web. Keep in mind that these are just the 1972 models - 71s and 72s are quite rare. There are many more 70s compared to the 71s and 72s.

I have been documenting these early sunroof cars. Production numbers are fairly sorted out for the 69-70 Chargers and 70-71 Challengers, but later B and E body, and A and C body production is not well known.

Scott.

Yep, I have run across this one - pretty neat. The gator grain on the lid is supposed to be original, but the rest of the top was redone. I have a couple pics of the car, but your profile shot of the car is nicer than the one I have - thanks for sharing!

I think I heard that this car either belongs to, or use to belong to, Galen the guru, but I don't know for sure.

. I should have the 72 Barracudas out shortly, and I will be working on the 70-71 Challengers this fall.
Enjoy! Scott.

Yeah, I thought the lid covering was probably original based on the condition.  The owner was sitting right behind the car, with a small group of people, when I took the pictures.   I wanted to talk to him about the car a bit but the group seemed to be pretty engaged in their conversation and I didn’t want to interrupt them.

Yes, I would love to see anyone's sunroof pictures. I live in South Dakota - so I don't get to all those awesome Mopar shows in the more populated places in this country. Most of my info/pics have come from just scouring the different forums on the web. If I use someone's pictures directly, I try and give them credit somehow. Just PM me if you have some sunroof pics and I will get you my email address.
Thanks! :ylsuper:
Scott.
