Wiring Harness/New
« on: September 12, 2014 - 12:05:49 PM »
The instrument panel is being completely re-done and should have it back soon.  Since the harness is 42 years old and the fuse box looks shot I would like to replace the whole thing.  Has anyone bought one recently that is an easy install and complete?  Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Yes I put them in all my cars. Made by M&H, sold by YearOne or Megaparts. Most are currently on back order.

Be prepared for a long wait.  I ordered a tail light harness and it took 2+ months to get it.

Alan,

Getting the dash back from Auto Instruments next week and will start the wiring.  Considering the harness is over 40 years old I am going for a new harness such as M&H as you suggest.  The car sat outside for a number of years.

1972 Challenger Rallye Dash 340 with A/C but I am not going to install A/C during restoration.

I decided no on headers in exchange for harness.

Is the M&H a straight forward install to the dash?  Also what Alternator would you recommend?

Thanks for any help you can give.

the dash harness is a simple swap , all the colors & connectors match up so it is plug & play .
what type of Alt are you after , a local rebuilder can get a stock alt up to approx. 75 amp output , I do recommend installing a bypass 10 ga wire from the alt output to the start relay battery terminal , stay away from Powermaster though
