I see no need to change our forum rules at this time. I see no bashing of the car or owner, just a couple of folks that think the price is a little high. I say run the ad for whatever price he wants and the buyers or lack of buyers will set the final price. Nice car....   

What if the lack of buyers is because they listen to one some newb has to say about the asking price being too high?

NADA is what insurance companies use for valuations.   Given the fact that this car is non-#'s matching - i cannot see it going for the full 20% premium or high retail. IMHO - this puts the car between 33 and 42K.   
Is the car in excellent condition - YES ... is it something that would be up against stiff competition in the mid-40's?  YES.  Ergo the wait.

That all said, i've been waiting to buy a 71 and been studying sell prices on cars for a long while.   Seems to me that 440's or #'s matching cars go north of 40.  The 71's for that matter are just crazy expensive right now.

I would think that any serious perspective buyers would do a lot more research on the cars value than basing whether or not to purchase on what a newb says in an internet post.....

i can see this has turned into a discussion on the prices of classic cars.

this is how i look at it,

1 - you have what the car is
2 - you have the condition
3 - you have validity of the car, real or clone

if all that is to your liking, then,

4 - you have documentation.

documentation is what can push the value way up. for the most part, Mopars are always
on the higher side of the pricing spectrum compared to GM and Ford. (and i can hear
the bashing starting now). i don't care how much you have into a resto, it's only
gonna be worth what the car "IS" from the factory. just had this discussion on
facebook.  sinking 45K into restoring an all original numbers matching 318 car
that had build sheet, dealer paperwork, original window sticker, etc, etc, doesn't
make it worth 55K

As the Newb who seems to have caused all this, including ruining the sale of the vehicle because everyone is hanging on my weeks of experience on this forum. If you go back to page one, you will see a lot of opinions on pricing long before I chimed in. I have been watching the prices of Mopars, Cuda's and Challengers in particular since 2005 as I want to pick up a 70 Cuda. I've watched what the TV auctions are bringing, both Barrett Jackson and Mecum, what individual classifieds are bringing as well as whatever it is they sell on eBay. The market is the market. Because you put $50k into your Dodge Dart doesn't make it worth $50k. It's worth whatever the current market is. Prices for Mopars went thru the roof in 2005 -2006 to where they were almost untouchable. Now they are coming down in price to a more reasonable/reachable level which is good for buyers and bad for sellers. Some folks are stuck at the 2006 Barett Jackson prices. Markets change prices change, same as housing. Money was flowing back then, now not so much. 71 Cuda 440's are indeed rising in price.

Hello to every one .all I would like to say is  here in Australia .  That is a very  very cheap price for a  70 cuda friend  just  payed $42,800  U.S Dollars  for a 69 camaro 396  numbers car in very good cont  covert the dollar $57.000 plus  $2000 shipped from east Coast to the west coast  and shipping to Australia  total price with all tax payed  closet to $70.000 dollars . The muscle. Cars just keep on coming  I work at the  waft or ship yard and see so many . My point is  the price would seam a little high to a local buyer or the U.S market . But here it is cheap good luck with the sale.

Do you have a build sheet ?
If the car was say insured for $30 and got totaled,
You would not find another one as nice as yours for the price.
Stick to 49 and take offers.
Keep the 'CUDA get rid of the 73 Challenger if you still have it.

Hi Jeff and yes I still have my 73 Challenger and my 71 Challenger RT. Nice to meet you this year at Carlisle I was the guy with the 09 blue challenger classic with the shaker hood we stayed at the same hotel. Not sure what I will do with the Cuda as I will never be able to buy another I'm sure.

Sold the Cuda today and watched it leave for Dallas Texas. Hope the new owners enjoy there new ride!
