Hi everyone,
So, I'm finishing the install of my BPE kickdown cable kit. It's pretty easy/straightforward, except I'm running into one minor snag.
In the attached picture, I'm running into trouble in the highlighted area. Installing the nut/bolt/washer looks straightforward enough, however on my 727, there is currently a black L bracket. It doesn't appear to be doing anything. There is a round hole in the bottom, sort of like something should be routed through it, but isnt. I'm pretty much committed to removing it at this point, and this is where I'm running into some trouble.
It's got a flat head. Almost like a carriage bolt. Theres a nut on the bottom, but I'm having a hard time getting at it. It seems like there's not enough clearance for any of my deep sockets to get in there.
Wasn't able to take any pictures because well...the car isn't high enough off the ground for me to weasel a camera in there.
I'm planning on coming back it the thing tonight.
I realize that its probably hard to ID this bracket/how to remove it without a picture. Hopefully, when you see the picture (BPE's photo), you'll be able to spot would would've been there.
The closest thing I can come up with on google image search is a colmun shift linkage bracket. The one on my car is black and has no bushing. I'm not even sure that what is on my car IS a column shift bracket. Just the closest thing I can come up with. My car is a floor shift and always was. Which probably means the transmission was replaced, I guess.
Any idea what this mystery bracket is and how to remove it?
Thank you!
