Power steering trouble
« on: September 22, 2014 - 02:36:56 PM »
The problem is the steering wheel self rotates all the way to end of cycle and holds there.Left or right depends on the way the wheel is initially turned. Fluid seems to flow well enough. It does not seem like any blockage issues. This is on a 72 Cuda 340. One issue may be the power steering box could be from a 70 something Cordova.

there is a housing on the top of the box where the return hose connects , it can be slid up & down with the bolts loose this centers the steering & ifi ti si out of position it will turn the wheels to one end by itself But because yours will turn either way & doubt that has anything to do with the problem , sounds more like once the assist is triggered to either side it doesn't release , I would try flushing the system with new fluid , other than thatyou may need a now box in which case I would suggest Firm Feel stage 3 or Steer & Gear stage 3

Steering valve adjustment ...the ones the arrows point to....Wrong...Just loosen the valve body screws & tap on the screws at the bottom (if it pulls left)or the plug at the top (if it pulls right)
