VIN # Emblem on Dash Pad

I am replacing my dash pad.  Is it possible to get the vin # emblem off the old dash and put on new dash?

If not, can you order a new one and then I put up the old one for safe keeping.

Just remove the rivets and rivet it on the new dash....easy peasy :2thumbs:

what Alan said. drill out the old rivets and use the VIN tag on the new/fixed dashpad. you can get the rivets through a few vendors.

there can be some tricky legal issues with someone re-creating a VIN (potential for fraud), so just re-use your original

Be careful removing the original rivets.  If you try drilling them out, they will spin and damage the VIN plate.  It's best to grind off the rivet from the back side.  The top section will push right out once the back is ground down. 

You can get a new Chrysler dry transfer and the correct rivets from ECS Automotive.

Silk screen looks nice, not sure I like the blue inspection mark :screwy:

Similar to what has already been said, I recently had a new dash pad done by Just Dashes.  I removed the VIN plate from the junky repop pad that the previous owner installed by drilling/grinding the old rivets.  I bought the kit from ECS which included the dry-transfer for the Chrysler logo and the rosette rivets.  I stripped the old paint off the VIN plate, repainted with SEM Trim Black, applied the dry-transfer logo, and had Just Dashes attach it to the newly made pad.  Worked out flawlessly.
1970 Challenger Convertible (JH27N0B); Resto-Mod; 605 HP, 412cid Small Block; Holley 750CFM Carburetor; A-833 23-spline 4-SPD; A-body 8.75 rear-end w/3.55 gears; 3" mini-tub; leaf spring relocation kit with split-leaf mono and Caltracs; American Racing AR500 Wheels, Rears = 15x10 (5.5" BS) with 315/60-15 BFG Comp T/A Drag Radials; Fronts = 15x7 (3.5" BS) with 215/70-15 BFG Radial T/A Radials.

did you send the vin tag into Just Dashes when they installed it?

did you insure the package you shipped the vin tag in? 

How did you protect yourself from loosing the tag and having to deal with that whole fiasco?

Exactly!!  They riveted the VIN plate to the new pad (while I waited) when I went there to pick it up.  Great team of guys, BTW.
