    1969 340 to a hemi torque converter.

    Need some help on seeing if they make a hemi converter that will fit a 1969 340. I found out that the nose of the converter will not fit my crank tonight when putting in the tranny. Tranny is a 727. Any help would be great.

    I am hoping to get some information by Monday so I can go to the tranny shop and get this straight. This kinda rumored my hole weekend due to I am putting in a new drive train and this stop me on the tranny.

    I;m a little confused as to what you want to do, But a HEMI trans (BIG block) wont bolt to a small block (340)  :dunno:

    I have a small block tranny and a small block motor. Have the right flex plate but my question is is there was different years on hemi converters. I have one on my tranny that my Tammy shop told me would work but the nose of the converter is to big for the crank. It puts the converter into a bind.

    Looking for a converter that the nose of it will work on my 340.
    I figure I would ask everyone on here due to a lot people look like they know there stuff and I am new to the mopar world.

    I would contact a converter builder , they should know why the nose diameter would be different , I assume the 426 Hemi 8 bolt cranks use a different hub size but I am not sure why . I am sure the correct converter can be built to the same spec as the Hemi converters internally

    I need a stall for my cam and my tranny guy talked me into this converter. I figured it sounded to good to be true. Well I can tell you that bolts line up. It is an internal balance and starter ring gear even was right. Guess it time I throw this back at my tranny guy and see what els he can get for a big stall.
    I got a 282/290 duration solid cam in a little 10.5:1 340.

    Talked to my tranny guy and there is a hemi converter that will work. This is what he says anyway. I am only going with this due to I want the 2800 stall for my car. Don't want to go to big due to I have a gear venders unit on my 727. Also only have 3.91 gears. I know I am pushing the limits with the cam.
    I will keep everyone posted on how things work out.

    Well I found out that on a 340 my tranny guy did not know what he was talking about and well I got my money back today. I ordered one from my local speed shop to match my set up.

    You can turn the nose of the converter as CP suggested and I've done it, trying to mount an A engine TF to a LA 318 years ago, BUT, don't cut it much as it's about .060 thick. Guess how I found this out.  :swear:
