His feedback is deceptive, in that they all say motor looks good, but there is little feedback
on how well it ran.  And a couple of positive feedbacks actually say negative things.
I'd stay away until you had lots of reports as to how well the motors have performed over
time.
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

Painted the lifter valley with engine paint? That in itself is a red flag for me.  :-\
That intake won't clear a stock hood either as far as I remember?

I put in a 408 stroker in my Challenger that runs strong.  Contact Richie at CME.  Take your pick:

this is the 522/525hp version from CME.  It's a very mild build but the combo would appear to pretty well maximize the 440 Stealth heads as delivered.  They offer much hotter versions as well.  This one would make a pretty good truck engine :)  Or, work well in a Challenger to putt around in traffic on a hot day with the AC blasting.

“CHRYSLER 522 STROKER"

522 PLUS HORSEPOWER

HIGH PERFORMANCE PUMP GAS STREET ENGINE

CAROLINA MACHINE ENGINES uses the highest Quality brand products including: Clevite, Cloyes, Comp Cams, Corteco, Dana, Eagle, Elgin, Federal Mogul, Felpro, Hastings, Lunati, Manley, Melling, Perfect Circle, Pioneer, Probe, RHS, Scat, Speed Pro and Victor Reinz.

Except for the seasoned and sonic tested 440 Chrysler block, this engine is all NEW. The short block assembly is equipped with a forged steel 4.25" “Stroker” crankshaft, 4340 forged steel rods, Keith Black forged pistons, moly rings, brass expansion plugs, and performance bearings.

The longblock is further equipped with the STEALTH aluminum heads, 2.14/1.81 stainless steel valves. It has performance pushrods, valve springs, roller rocker arms, hydraulic lifters, and a camshaft with over .510" lift and 280/230 duration.

It is expertly machined, balanced, blueprinted, plate honed, line honed, and decked. It has been assembled by a highly capable technician and spin tested to check the oil pressure, compression and oil circulation!

To the complete versions are added the oil pump, oil pan, oil pump screen, timing cover, harmonic balancer, valve covers, dual plane performance aluminum intake manifold, oil filter, oil filter adapter, dipstick, and spark plugs.

To remove the possibility of “New Engine Bugs”, our complete versions are then dynamometer tested and “broken-in” with the proper carburetor, a performance distributor and quality headers and mufflers. The actual Dyno sheet from the Dyno printer, not a copy or generic, is provided with the engine. A final crankcase pressure test and oil filter internal inspection is performed.

When used with the recommended carburetor, ignition and exhaust system, this engine will produce over 522  horsepower at around 5200 RPM and between 625 and 675 foot-pounds of torque at around 3700 RPM.

It will have approximately 10.0 to 1  compression ratio. It will  have a “Choppy” High Performance idle and it will have fair manifold vacuum (8 to 12 inches).

We recommend a 1800 to 2800 RPM stall torque converter to realize the maximum potential of the engine.

I have been researching 408's for my Challenger for a few months and have read a lot of good about CME.  I still haven't made a decision yet but I can say I don't trust
these "pressure buy this now" ads of ebay.

Can't you have one built cheaper ? At least you would know what you're getting if you use a reputable builder. :2cents:

What do you know about CME that makes them not reputable?

I call BS on his claims. 525hp and over 500 ft lbs of torque from a 9.5 compression stock head setup with some howard cam?

Ask to see the dyno results because he probably doesn't have any. Overspray on the shortblock will give you the kinda of indication of how the total job will be done. Let along the components he used in the build. Reminds me of the time an old acquaintance worked at a garage and told me how they would routinely tell folks they rebuilt their motor and basically threw a new oil pan gasket, intake gasket, a little paint and wallah! Amazing...

I love the Balance and Blueprinted part as well, just saying it doesn't mean you did it. You have to show exactly how it was done and then the marks/areas that were added to or removed to make it completely balanced. I paid a pretty penny to have all my internals balanced. Yes my machinist did me a favor and had them sent out to be double checked and they came back right on the money.

Saying and doing are two different things .....

I didn't say they were NOT reputable. I said if you had a motor built for you, to your specs, by someone reputable....you would know what you're getting. Buying something off of EBay is a crap shoot. :2cents:

How are the CME prices in comparison to having an engine built by a shop? Going down this route now and curious how close pricing may be...

That ad has a lot of descriptive information that runs on and on without saying anything. 525 HP? Really? With that intake and carb and heads?  Hmmmm....   I think I would look elsewhere.....    :2cents:
