Shifter Cable Melting

Obviously I have a problem with my shifter cable melting....and no it wasn't resting on the header.....so before i get a new one....my currenyt cable was 5 foot.....is anyone running a 4 footer or maybe a 6  footer......anyone have any fix ideas or what you may have done so this dont happen again.....thx

we were thinking of mnaking them out of bycycle shfiter cables so they cannot melt , they are poorly made & designed to fail

yes check your grounds ... the car is searching for a ground this is common when the grounds have gone bad they will use anything they can including throttle cables choke cable ect.

Had this happen to an Accelerator pedal cable once.  It was an electrical issue.   
Rock solid when the plastic melts to the metal !

I was melting mine also, I slid one of those reflective sleeves on it  and all is good now
