carb discharge after 3 days

I have problem with my 340. Every time I want to start the car afther is has been park for 2 or 3 days, I have to pour some gaz in the carb to start it. The carb is an orignal carter and has been rebuild, new fuel pompe, gaz tank and lines. I dont know where to start to check. Can somebody give me a kind of troubleshouting guide?

First thing I'd make sure is the car has had a recent tune-up, with good running parts, like plugs,
wires, distributor cap, timing, etc.
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

What fuel are u using ?
 If it has a lot of ethanol it will evaporate fast especially on a hot engine , check your fuel pump it should have 5+ lbs of pressure & should pump a cup of fuel in 8 seconds or so . Is the fuel filter good ?

Sounds like a T-Q,   

Heat and Fuel is probably the deal.

Mine has been doing it for years..

I crank mine with the ignition off a little then hit the switch, no problem..

Question:
Would an electric fuel pump in front or behind the mechanical pump be able to push fuel up to the carb and fill the bowls by turning the key on and waiting till the pump built preasure?   :dunno:  :clueless:

Are you pouring the gas down the vent tube, to fill the bowl?

I missed what kind of carb it is...but it sounds like the carb is draining the bowl to me

The problem is new gas evaporates quickly.  There isn't much you can do about it if you want to retain a stock look.  If that isn't a concern, an electric fuel pump will let you refill the carb with gas before you try starting it. Make sure you are using a thick heat insulating carb base gasket.  There are some heat shields on the market that are supposed to help isolate the carb from engine heat.

Had the same issues with my 440 Six-Pack. Center carb would dry out if I didn't use the car often. Ran a separate fuel line with an inline electric fuel pump and tied it all together under the mechanical fuel pump. Installed two small ball valves under the fender flange---one for mechanical--one for electric pump. Ran the electric pump hot wire to a location under the battery. Close the valve for the mechanical pump--open the valve for the electric pump--stick the electric pump hot wire between the battery hot post and terminal and if it is quiet you can hear the center carb bowl fill then stop. Pull the wire off the terminal and stash it below the battery tray. Switch the valves back and start the engine. The little ball valves are also a good anti theft measure. :burnout:

All I have to do its to pour about a table spoon directly in the carb and the car start  :droolingbounce:right away. So the new gaz would be faulty? Gaz filter is new,  new plugs, cables, distributor ect. If we start it every 2 todays no problem, but longer then that we have to give im gaz.It look like the bowl get drain like stradawg said.

In addition, the electric fuel pump could come in handy if the mechanical pump fails while out on the road.

takes more than a week for my bowls to go dry..maybe my gas is formulated differently down here in texas...Takes two weeks for my jeep to go dry

Check the choke setting.

Our Gr Cpe has a hand choke installed by previous owner on Edelbrock carb.

Pump pedal once full closed choke few cranks fires up.

Our AAR sits week or two  must set carb choke minute of cranking before it fires.

I had a mega-problem with my Pontiac (same issue? gas leak down) granted its a Q - BOG but this new gas just destroyed the seals and this thing would leak down constantly. Had probs the last 2 years.  Hasn't been warm enuff for evap issues. Give it a splash of gas it fire right up. I think I finally have a handle on it, but I just put it in winter storage, so spring will tell.  :banghead:
