1970 challenger 383 and other u code challenger
« on: October 19, 2014 - 10:44:36 PM »
UPDATED.  Another car added so I didn't need a new tread.

I came across two cars somewhat local about 5 hours away. One is a 71 And the other is a 70. Both 383 challengers. The 71 might be sold. Here is the pics and info for the 70. I tried to decode the fender tag but I missed a few. From what I got it was a 383 Light green AC, with colored front bumper and full stripe car? Anything else I missed? Has the original motor. The car needs alot of work

Modified the original post I thought it was lime green with white interior but it's just light green. Missed one number on the interior code. :screwy:

Wouldn't have a coloured front bumper in 1970. :2cents:

Tag was pretty rusty it looked like the right code. Guess not. I'm not really interested  in the car anymore once I figured out my screw ups in decoding it

What would this 70 440 U code be worth? He said the firewall has been cut up and the car was hit on the drivers door back in the day. After talking with the seller I'm hoping this car didn't turn into a re bodies as he said the dash might be form a 71 cuda.? He doesn't know much about these cars. Anyone have knowledge  of this car from Canada?

I spoke to the owner of this U-code car some time ago. I believe the car is probably a real U-code car....but I believe the dash VIN and the registration are from a Cuda. Seems like an awful waste to me but i'm no expert.

that's what I got when I spoke to him. im sure it was a real U code but I think the vin for it might be on another challenger. would hate to buy this car and then find out the vin is on a rebody

The U code car rallye gauges are the 72-74 style.

And worse, spend a lot of money to restore and then find out about it, the 70 383 Challenger seem in way better condition though...

I know this is an old thread but does anybody have an opinion on what a 383 auto R/T like this would be worth....needing lots of work.
