Me, for those who have asked

For those who have asked, here's the deal with me at the moment.

My employer has chosen to release a bunch of contractors. I am told that my department alone has a $500 million budget shortfall. (Wrap your head around that one  ). At the same time, they're keeping a bunch of Ukranians who are the most expensive tech support around (about $225,000 yearly each) so I'm not sure what to think about that.

In any event, I'm out of here, coming home 30 Oct. Given the state of the area (ISIS) and the state of the world (Ebola) I'm just as happy. I'll miss the money, but that's about it.

I was pretty short when I posted for help in the calendar thread, and I think that led some folks to believe I was panicking. Actually, when I found out I was due to fly home on a leave in two days, and the extra demands of setting up a reliable communications system (which I never really accomplished) and starting a job search was just more than I could do and still try to do admin on the calendar. Truthfully, though, things are OK. For the first time in my life, I don't need to find a job immediately (although I would prefer to not wait too long).

So, short form, things are OK

Thanks, mon ami. A lot of stuff is still up in the air. I hate cities, and I really hate Virginia, so in my perfect world I'll be in the country...somewhere else. At the same time there's a new girlfriend, who loves cars, but I think wants to stay in VA. My goal right now is to find a job that lets me work remotely, and then look for a house somewhere I want to be.

Glad to hear you are heading home.  Really enjoyed some of those photos you posted while in-country.

Come home, learn some Ukrainian,  , have a few brewskies, comfort the new girlfriend, de-compress, get the car out, catch up with some old mates and watch the world go by for a while. It sounds like you've earned it.

Not sure what your background is but my company is hiring if you have a background in HR and lets you work remote. Be safe!

I'm an instructional designer; I create the plan for training programs. Some companies consider that part of HR, others consider it part of IT (usually companies that do a lot of online training), and some consider it a separate function. If they do need an ID let me know.
