Original gas cap
« on: October 30, 2014 - 06:35:43 PM »
I can't find my original locking gas cap and it seems that no one makes one. I can't find one on ebay  and I got one of those other style caps from yearone and its a loose sloppy fit.  So does that mean that I am SOL for the original style?

Original Challenger locking caps pop up from time to time on Ebay... But there are three pt #s & none of them ever sell cheap... The last three I've seen all sold for over $700.00....

Maybe it's only a "1970" thing but I found there is also two different sized   lugs on the caps. On my car it depended on if has CA emissions or not. Just thought I'd mention it thinking maybe that was the cause of the "looseness" your experiencing?  :dunno:

$700?  :eek4:  Well that sucks. YO has 2 caps I can try the other I guess. Worst case I'll get a non locking cap if I have to.

I do have a new cupped bumper but the retainer ring that holds it on is too small. I'm sure I can get something for it though.

Who would of guessed that a gas cap would be so difficult?
