It's immora lmaybe to tamper with these numbers, but certainly not illegal. These numbers are nothing more then body stampings they alone, do not make up, or replace the VIN tag. It's not considered VIN tampering to move these numbers around. :2cents:

I believe in certain locations it is.  In certain locations it is even illegal to remove the VIN plate, repaint the dash frame and reinstall the plate on the same dash.

:wavingflag: So what is the right answer? forget it or weld it? I don't want to do something that could kill a possible sale of the car in the future?

Are you trying to make this thing an immaculate conception or a real, drivable car? THAT is the question and who, if you did a clean job of it, would ever know you'd done it? When I cut off my old, rotten cowl, I looked at that # and realized what it was; then I threw it in the garbage with the rest of the rotten metal and never thought about it again. Your car, your call. Just my  :2cents:

:wavingflag: Well finished with the trunk and drop offs.  I finally have floors from front to back. I was wondering if you guys are running the stock EEC system. I am debating on whether I truly need it, if I can just add a vent tube to the filler neck? :working:

I took mine out of my '71 Challenger when I replaced the trunk floor and just ran a vented gas cap with no issues.
