i used eastwoods conutour poly primer, kit comes with a gallon of primer and 2 bottles of hardener. i marked the hardener bottles into 4 equal parts. one measured amount to 16 ounces of primer. for 16 ounces of primer I used about 1.5 oz of acetone.  they recommend only mixing 16ozs at a time but i used 32ozs per coat. 32ozs primer 1/2 bottle of hardener 3.5 ozs acetone.

I will say i am tired of sanding but this stuff is sweet. Sands slick and smooth like a talcum powder. i quickly discovered i can skip straight to 320 grit to get going.  i am probably going to end around 1000 (320, 400, 600, 800, 1000) but i will see how it goes. :working:

Be careful how fine you go, you will need some mechanical bite for the paint. Most I have seen say 800 is as fine as you should go if you are shooting metallic. For solids, 320 is probably good enough, but you could go as fine as 600.

the paint has metallics of several colors and 4 different pearls, the manufacturer recommends a MINIMUM 600. AKA sore sanding arms for a week

sorry to hear that, I hope he gets better.

I too have been blocking, go my 2K on and begun blocking that. I realized tonight that I actually mixed it with 1/2-3/4 the correct amount of hardner...  :banghead: So, I am going to block it out with 220, then shoot another coat (properly mixed this time), then do it again with 220 and then 320. Should get my paint this week, so with any luck at all, I should seal it and paint it this week.

Well todays blocking session has come to an end. I am almost half way through, but it is readilly evident i will need at least one more go round with the poly primer.  All the (x)s are marking low spots.  :banghead:

the good news is i haven't found anything that requires more than another coat or 2 of the poly primer. LOL
