It's peculiar that some who are watching this project think they have the authority to mandate rules about a car that was never built.  Like it or not, I'm building the car and I will determine the guidelines for its construction.  Again, the 000 code had NOTHING to do with the exterior door/window frames on a car.  That code references the INTERIOR color/panel codes.  I challenge anyone to find one Chrysler 4 door car that had ANY exterior window frame treatment other than the color of the car or stainless steel trim.  They were NEVER painted a different color other than they body of the car.   We decided that the black out surrounding the exterior window frames would be incorporated in the BH41 theme.  If I am wrong, please provide the certified documentation showing what is actually correct for a 1970 4 door Barracuda.

The 340 was a choice that was made to coincide with the concept theme.  This build represents what might have occurred if such a vehicle had been approved for production.  Concept cars were built to showcase features and options that were not normal Factory protocol.  If you had been paid attention from the beginning, you would see that I've explained this many times.  No other Factory E Body vehicles came with a Tilt, Telescopic Steering Column but this one will.  We used a few features that do not coincide with Factory protocol.  It's comical how some of you try to lecture me about the correctness of a vehicle that was never actually built by Chrysler.  By all means, build your own if what we are doing is incorrect.

If you're going to quote me, please get your facts straight.  Nowhere did I call anyone a "clueless cretin" with regards to the comments made about the door or window frames.  I've said on more than one occasion that the BH41 on my project designates that the EXTERIOR window frames had the black out treatment.  I find it condescending when people attack this project by stating it has "strange logic" or that we had an "oversight" in the thought process.  We know exactly what we are doing!  The "naysayers" are not qualified to sweep the floors this car sits on much less provide information about its construction.  Their input about interior door codes was "ignorant" about the topic.  They obviously did not understand what the triple zero code stood for.  If you don't want a response to your instigating jabs then I suggest you don't make condescending comments.  I can assure you that I know more about this project than anyone posting here and that grants me a "monopoly" regarding its build.

It would also raise the question about the paint treatment if the car didn't have a vinyl roof, or if a different color of roof were specified.  The builder may wish to treat his spec list like a Superbird - V1X only and that solves the problem.

Isn't that what Dave and company did already?  Or would this be considered stirring the pot?   :smilielol:  I think people need to stop comparing the two door protocal to this 4 door build.  Two door and four door cars DO have some similarities, however, they have a lot of difference too !  I think Dave has made it pretty clear what the BH41 represented.  Why is there a controversy over this? :clueless:

Here are a few additional pictures from another forum of the door frames & black out over-spray. Keep in mind that the purpose was to mask the color on the top of the cowl area so it could not be seen through the hood slots or around the hood perimeter. We did not try to purposely try to make it messy but you can see where it went through the holes and hit the top of Firewall.

Thanks for the new pictures. It is looking fantastic. Great job on the cowl and the over-spray on the engine side of the firewall. You see so many with it taped off and most of us know, the factory did not tape the cowl blackout. :cooldancing:

quick, sloppy job, and you were lucky if they even got all of the area behind the headlights too !  Some cars stopped just short of the low beam but got the high beam area covered.

Here are a few more of the custom weatherstrip and underside details. You cannot detect where we spliced the inner door felt/channeling together. It looks original. We also did not manipulate the under side over spray like many restorers do. Steve sprayed the paint and black out just like a Chrysler Assembly Line Worker would have done. The pattern is natural and looks Factory correct.

That makes sense to me, after all it is a four-door.

I have been keeping up on this build and I think its is one giant leap of creativity and craftsmanship.  It really puzzles me that anyone that shares the Mopar hobby would have negative things to say about what is being done here.  Would anyone say bad things if Foose, Coddington, or Petty Enterprises was building this car?  The builders have every right to dream, create, and craft whatever they wish whether anyone liked the design or not.  That is including build codes.  If I wanted to call a 426 Hemi OB1 Kenobi, or R2D2, who really cares?  Sometimes the critics are way too serious, cuz there are a lot more important things to consider.
If you build one of these, I would respect whatever codes you use.  If you really think about it, codes are just an option.  I think my Fender tag would say this if I created such a build:  "Bet you don't have one"

Im very impressed with this build and I hope the updates continue. :2cents:
