Windshield installation question regarding 1970 Challenger

 My car is at the restoration shop. It was a rotisserie restoration so the complete interior including the dash super structure etc was removed. So in other words the whole interior is gutted. While at the body shop I am having them install the vinyl roof. I would like them to also install the windshield and back glass at the same time.
  My question. Is there a down side to installing the windshield at this time or do I need to install some of the dash components before the windshield?  Thanks!

Install the whole dash as one assembly first before you put in the windshield.
Also you need to black out the areas where the windshield sits in the channel and inside just before it.

Otherwise color shows thru especially the 4 bolt areas.

MAKE SURE.....the glass guy installs the clips for the window trim BEFORE the glass is installed. Most of these body shop mobile glass guys don't bother or care about the clips....They just come in and whip your glass in and leave.

As for the dash AFTER the windshield....It can be done it just takes a little more patience

I removed my entire dash with the old windshield in place but replaced it with the windshield out.  So, it can be done either way.  I agree with Alan it is easier with the glass out.

It's also much easier to install the headliner if the glass is out.  Installing the glass is one of the last things I had done.  Once I had the interior completely assembled and the trim clips in place, I called the glass company.  They came out to my house and installed the windshield and back glass.  It couldn't have been easier.

That is what I planned on doing---having a glass company come to my place. In the end I couldn't find one that would do it.  The mobile guys didn't like that I had already purchased the glass (from AMD) so gave me the finger.  I did it myself--piece of cake.

If you have a window shop install it, don't put your window trim in untill they are finished. I've seen installers get to much adhesive on the A-pillars  and you can't get the trim off.
