    You ought to start your own resto thread, I am sure there are others who would like to follow your progress.
    Something you mentioned about garage length got me thinking :thinkerg:
    I may not be able to fit the car on a twirler in my garage, and still have elbow room front & back. My driveway is way to steep to wheel it part way out. I am double checking my options.
    Today has not been very productive. Went out and bought the steel for my k-frame support/dolly. Fooled around pulling some wiring harness from the engine, probably be working on pulling the dash tonight. :working:

    Well I got a few things done this weekend. Dash is out Firewall looks solid, (thank God).
    See pics attached. One question I do have is I have determined that the car was probably in an accident at one point in it's life and the RF fender has been replaced, I think from a later year? There are some minor differences between the right and left fender (besides the rust on the left one!)
    There are more holes in the headlight bucket area, the nuts where the hood bumper attaches are different and on the right one the bucket itself has 3 bumps around the circumference that the left one doesn't have.

    I would appreciate if one of you experts would weigh in on this. At first glance with everything attached they seem the same but obviously are not.  :dunno:

    different fenders for sure.
    Does your passengers side have a rolled lip?

    Evening all,
    Time for the weekend update.
    Got the interior firewall completely stripped down and was pleasantly surprised with the lack of rust!  :woo:
    So the inside is done, and most of the engine compartment is now stripped, I hope to get the drive line out this week.
    I thought I was going to get my K-Frame dolly welded up on Sunday, but to many "team" shots of Patron at the Company Xmas party Saturday night
    kind of interfered. I just don't shake it off @ 61 like I did when I was younger! :drunk:
    At least I got the tubing cut and mocked up, I just don't like welding when I'm somewhat fuzzy :nono:

    Well something I knew was an issue may be a bigger issue then I thought .
    I knew my torsion bar/tranny crossmember had been bent at sometime in the cars life but never really considered the ramifications of that until I really started looking at it. Obviously it will need to be replaced, but near as I can tell the only way to do that is to cut out the floor first.
    I can't see replacing anything else metal wise until I replace the crossmember and make sure the whole body isn't tweaked.
    The fact that the RF floorpan is buckled would indicate that I may have to resquare  once the crossmember is out before welding it back in.
    What do you guys think and what would be the best approach once it is back from the blasters?

    Alan,
    I gave that some thought, but seeing it anchors the torsion bar I wasn't sure if sectioning it was a wise idea.
    When it gets back from blasting, I may just try that first and see what it looks like once I cut it out.
    I am thinking about installing sub frame connectors anyway so we will see.

    not sure if you found a blaster yet my dad had his 69 GTX done months ago in Sacramento for $1500 blasted and coated inside and out. PM me if you want the contact info and I can get it

    Ahh the old "Chip Foose" torch pry and hammer trick!  :2thumbs:
    I may try that, maybe drill out a few of the spot welds first and see how it works.
    Worst case I just replace it.
