I'm curious as to how they tune the carb for the elevation changes. Cool stuff!

I wondered that too, I know gas monkey used EFI on the pace truck and on the falcon that Aaron ran pikes peak with this past year, seems like they would be the way to go.

Got to be running Fuel Injection and wow what an amazing run.

Guess folks will be aiming to break the 12 min mark next year.

Gas monkey used the Fast EZ-EFI v2.

One thing about these "other" EFI systems, they only have one map sensor to tell the ECU what the engine is pulling.
The Megasqurt DIY unit lets you run 2 if needed. One for engine load and one open to atmosphere to let the computer know of elevation changes, so it is constantly changing.

Seems like the way to go if you are running up Pike's Peak.

Gas monkey used the Fast EZ-EFI v2.

The GM truck with EFI was having some issues picking up fuel around the turns to right due to the tank internal pump, so you may want to add a bladder if you are planning to run up the mountain next year.

Yea this is Jess Neal , a good friend of mine, the car is running a modified small block with a carburetor .

Tons of records have and wil lbe broken now that the whole track is asphalt, previous years it has been about half asphalt and half gravel,

the biggest problem back then was tires and what type to run

I remember Jess telling me with the tune ,he pretty much got it to run as well as possible ,and take your chances up the hill, same with the tires

Saw this on FB - Jess Neal shaved of about 42 seconds from his previous time at the mountain. 11.21 and some change. What a drive, and he won his class again!
