How far down do the wiper blades go when they are off?
« on: November 24, 2014 - 03:04:50 PM »
I got my wiper arms and new blades and I am ready to put them on and just need to know how far down they go? Do the go onto the lower chrome trim? Any pictures would be greatly appreciated.

They go down onto the lower windshield trim.  The trim has some "stops" built into it at the bottom.

I see some humps in the trim. So the blade actually travels onto the trim pc. and stops at the bottom hump?

When you install them remember you will have some play in the wiper transmission/linkage. So the first time you operate them and turn them off they probably won't park in the same spot and you might have to readjust them.

What causes them to park? Something in the motor I guess, mine dont park at all, they just stop where ever I turn them off, I have to try to turn them off as close to the bottom as I can,
then manually push them down.

You may want to test where they park before putting them on, put a sharpie on the splines and the run them.

Do as djw383 suggests and also be sure that the stainless trim is not sticking up so far that it stops them on either side. The edge of it needs to be flush without any gaps under it. Also, check the secondary arm on the drivers side is not tilted down and catching the trim.
