Changing 1st gear in an 833

Thought i would through this out there before i head off for the weak. Is it possible to change the 1st gear in an 833 to a lower(slower) gear? I like where my 2nd and 3rd are with my 3.23 rear end, and drivability around town, but 1st is way too tall and i am afraid i will burn my clutch up eventually. Any thoughts or ideas, besides changing it out to a 5 speed.

 The gear seats are matched so all 4 gears have to be used together to mesh properly , you cannot change out a single gear in the set
Most 833 have a 2.45 1st gear , if I recall one has a 2.6 & the OD version has 3.09 1st  which gives you approx 2.2 rear ratio in OD !!
