69 Roadrunner with wrong engine code?
« on: November 27, 2014 - 02:32:59 PM »

This guy says it started out with a 383 and got a 440 transplant but I believe it started with a six banger...

"H" in the VIN is 383 4bbl as well as E63 on the fender tag means 383 4bbl :2cents:

That's the problem Alan, I don't see the "H" anywhere on the dataplate where it's supposed to be.

That's how that plant lays out it's tag, the car is a Road Runner with 383.

1969 Lynch Road tags do not have the full VIN on them. The seller listed the VIN in his description :2cents:

I was thinking the same thing, aren't all 69-70 'runners big blocks?

Weird how the data plate is not setup to show the engine code like I thought it should and you have to look at the VIN.

Interesting, guess the Roadrunner was the race car of the day:

Powertrain
Engine
383 cu in (6.3 L) 335 hp (250 kW) V8[1]
426 cu in (7.0 L) Hemi V8
440 cu in (7.2 L) V8
Transmission    3-speed automatic
4-speed manual

Are you sure about that?
I've read before about them.

6 cyl is referred to the Belevedere not the RoadRunner.  When my Dad factory ordered his 69 RR, only option was Hemi, standard was 383.

Until 1970, the 383 was standard in all Road Runners with the Hemi as the only optional engine, excepting the mid year, 1969 A12 cars.

I swear I read a thread on moparts there was either a  69' Charger or a Roadrunner with a 6 banger.
I tried to find it but I didn't find it on their search.

Charger, possibly, I've even seen one. Satellite, possibly. Road Runner or Super Bee, not a chance, at least not until 1976 anyway. Then it was possible.

Memories tend to make me believe it was a Charger that I read about.
Still would be a rare find.
