FYI I have the 1970 only/one year only gauges with the ribbed panels. Unless you get all the 70 only pieces this won't work for you?  The 71-74 are much easier to get if that's what you have?  I don't mind giving it to you just making sure it's actually what you need first?

So are folks here replacing the standard gauges with custom gauges mounted to the front of the plastic dash or from behind leaving the clear lens in place?  I've seen custom refaced gauges from vendors like Redline that look very cool, and can be made to look virtually stock with 160 MPH speedo, actual Oil Pressure gauge, etc.  I've also seen where people use off-the-shelf gauges and mount them to the plastic console face plate, for those what are you using for a speedo?  Like mentioned before, it would either have to be 5"? or a custom insert made to install a 3"+ gauge (saw this done in a magazine article).  I have some older period correct Mopar Performance & Stewart Warner gauges that I'd like to use if I go that route, but still haven't decided on what I'm doing yet.  One last thing, for those who go with custom gauges, are you modifying the original dash wiring harness or just making one up to fit the new gauges?

Not sure yet if I will use the lenses Speedhut supplies with the gauges?  Main reason for doing this is one to get rid of the ammeter fire hazard and second I can't get my speedo to read correctly . I have a GM 4l60/451" combo. So it's not as easy as changing gears in the tranny.

Haven't heard about the ammeter fire hazard, that said the one in my Roadrunner's rally dash got way hot and shorted out so maybe I was just lucky it didn't flame up!

Is this what you have? Thought this would bolt into my 73 dash or do I need additional parts?

The switch panel is different too, same as the radio and temp control panel. They are "ribbed" I have no idea if the 71-74 parts will attach/bolt to the 70 gauge panel but they would look "off" IMO?

How well does the Speedhut GPS speedometer work in a tunnel , heavy overcast day or tree overgrowth overhead on the highway. I know those thing effect the signal

why on earth would you want to know how fast you go inside a tunnel....

There are speed sensors and traffic cameras in tunnels .

Keep an eye on your tach while you're in a tunnel?

Only thing I do in tunnels is pop her in neutral, open the dumps and rev er up.  Throwback to my Harley days.

   I do the same on the way down to Florida!  We don't have any tunnels around here so hopefully I'll have no issues with trees etc... ?

Autometer was started by the same group who started Speed Hut, they sold Autometer about 15 years ago & signed a ten year covenant to not compete. for the aftermarket gauge market..  For the past 12 years they have made & supplied gauges to Ford & GM....  They aren't buying parts from Autometer.... I bought their gauges three years ago, very pleased with them, these are microprocessor controlled servo style gauges, the type that when you power them up they do a full sweep to auto-calibrate then they settle down & read like a normal gauge... They seem very accurate....

Wow they overnight shipped it!  Very quick shipping! They even know how to fill out customs forms too! 
It literally arrived like 10 minutes ago! It's 10:30PM!

Guess I'll be busy now , between this and my suspension project! It's going to be a fun winter project wise!
