Trunk gas struts
« on: December 08, 2014 - 05:34:44 PM »
Been searching around to see if anybody offers a conversion kit to eliminate the torsion bars, coming up empty.   :feedback:

So, you want to eliminate a system thats compact, trouble free, adjustable & virtually never wears out & replace it with gas charged struts that are known to fail frequently, are not adjustable & depending on your design may eat trunk space....   :2thumbs:

1 Wild RT is correct, the original is mostly trouble free. The gas shocks do wear out (like a new car ) But I use hi quality gas shocks. It makes the trunk open more smoothly and quieter than the torsion bar set up. I plan on having some kits together for sale next year for the E-body, additional info email me though my website www.custommachinecomponents.com I added them to the aluminum trunk hinges I made for the Cuda , they work well.

Hydraulic Strut trunk lid lift kits..I have the prototypes about 80% done..  There will be different size cylinders for Cuda and Challenger +Different for the pedestal wing spoilers and luggage racks too. (Thanks Mark )Roadman5312 for helping me confirm the weights on the Challenger. These will bolt to the rear cross braces that are behind the rear seat. I am hoping to have a few ready by Feb, I had these installed on my cuda to confirm fitment .See video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YT62ROQe7ms&feature=youtu.be
