Replace shock absorbers?
« on: December 10, 2014 - 07:00:24 PM »
My 74 Challenger currently has KYB Gas-a-just shocks. What shocks were used on these cars originally? I suspect mine are not original but I have no idea how old they are. They are not leaking. I'm looking at pulling the springs and having them re-arched to raise the rear a little bit. Should I replace the shocks at the same time? It seems that Bilstein RCD would be a popular choice.

I really like the ride of of my Ridetech "Fox" shocks.
They're a little bit less than Bilsteins which I almost went with.

Can't wait to have a sunny week-end again.

I really like my QA1 double adjustable shocks. Dialing them into the ride you like is a nice feature. All depends on budget too I guess.

Any word on what was used originally? Just curious.

It would have been a generic shock made in bulk by a large manufacturer like Monroe or Gabriel
KYB rides very hard & is a Japanese company
