Tear in billboard
« on: December 10, 2014 - 11:04:23 PM »
Some dinged my 340 billboard, tearing the vinyl. The billboard is maybe a year old and is a 3M product. Can I order just the door panel? Will it come w/o hurting the paint?

Would it be possible to find a local decal shop and have them make a new one using the applied one as a pattern ?

Performance Car Graphics will sell you just the door portion of the decal. They also use 3M.

Challengergary.... I agree I bought my T/A stripes from him and when I did my fender project I bought just the fender parts. Perfect match!
I'd guess you could remove the old one with a heat gun if your careful?

It's the workload I'm telling ya. The pressure is getting to him.
You can see the effects already!!
Pretty soon he will be answering his own questions like I do!
But then I have an excuse, those voices in your head are so demanding. :stirpot:
"There's no such thing as putting a '70 AAR 'Cuda exactly where you want it. The 'Cuda isn't interested in such things, for they require finesse. Finesse asked the 'Cuda out to dinner once, but the 'Cuda stood it up to go drink beer under an overpass with her hot little sister. As far as this car is concerned, finesse can go stuff itself."

So, if I carfully heated the strip up, it would come off easily?

3M makes a woodgrain remover that won't harm the paint.

Im no expert but vinyl coming from different batches may have a slightly different look.  I'm guessing there are several manufacturers of the vinyl material, including 3M, but even they run different batches.
I would ask Dave where he got them, and try to contact that vendor to see if you can get just the one door panel. Might be a slightly better chance of an exact match.
