Years ago I tried a kit like that. Might have even been the same brand? I took it to an alternator shop, and they guy told me that, yes it would work, but not under idle.
He instaled the kit and hooked up the at to his machine. He was right. It put out the stated amps, but at something like 5000 RPM. Idle/2000 RPM (something like that if I remember) was the same as stock.

Thinking of trying this.
Any results to report, especially at idle?
A few months ago I purchased for $45 an 80a power master alternator at discount auto and it just isnt charging. Been through two of them now in the past few years.

I got pissed off at low/no charge at idle so I bought this. http://www.qualitypowerauto.com/item_557/Chrysler-Mount-Mega-Amp-Alternator.htm
 :money: but no issues.

That output might be too much for my generally stock wiring

I'd still like to hear the results of the upgrade mentioned at idle?
No report back?

Ya perhaps. I ran a heavy wire right to the battery.

I'll see if I can get an Amp Clamp to measure the output. It's not a tool I own.
I do have access to one I can borrow, just not got around to it.

Hard to find a reasonably priced, stock appearing, alternator that will put out sufficient amps at idle.

I've gone to running 80-85 amp denso internally regulated alternators off a toyota, swapping the pulley (if necessary) and adjusting the brackets.   Doesn't look factory is the downside.

Another alternative could be installing a smaller diameter alt pulley to up the low speed RPM.  You have to be careful of the overrun rpm of your alternator.  Many alternators are good to about 16000-18000 rpm.  Got to bust out a calculator to figure it out using crank and alt pulley diameters.

Alternators only put out the amperage required by the existing electrical system components so the rating is meaningless unless you have installed things that require a lot of additional amps. A bypass wire is always a good idea because the factory wiring was marginal.

Not raining so.... Far from scientific and conclusive but here it is.
After warm:
1. No accessories on, Idle 850-890RPM, volts 14.4, Amps 12-18 digital amp clamp readout at output of Alternator.
2. No accessories on, 1000-1500, volts 14.4, Amps 12-18 digital amp clamp readout at output of Alternator.
3. All accessories on, Idle 850-890RPM, volts 13-14.5, Amps 24-30 digital amp clamp readout at output of Alternator.
4. All accessories on, 1000-2000RPM, volts 14.4, Amps 24-60 digital amp clamp readout at output of Alternator no increase in output going to 2500...

All accessories:
Headlights on High
Road Lamps
Heater Blower Motor on High
Stereo loud but not full blast. Sub Woofer getting a workout.
Don't have any other loads to put on it. I guess I could have put my kid in the car with his foot on the brake and the 4way flashers...

*I clamped all the Alt. output wires together at the same time to get the full output from the alt. All current flow in the same direction...

While at 850-890RPM without accessories on the alternator output did not change with RPM increase.
At 1500 - 2000RPM with everything that I could turn on turned on, the alternator met demand.
I also measured at the Battery and could see the Amps go from discharge from the battery at 11Amps to charge at 8Amps when going from loaded at 850RPM to 1500 RPM.
While I never saw 80A output, I don't think I could ever put that much demand on it without adding some external loading...
Maybe I could string a bunch of lights together? Nah, I'm just not that curious
I think the output just off of idle was very good and 1500-2000 probably sees full output but that is just my guess.
Never measured Before and since I did the Headlight Relays and big wire from the Alt. to Starter Relay...  :dunno:

FWIW I'm happy with the mod.

I just measured the draw from just the Headlight harness from the Alternator connection:
Car running 7A, car off 6.4A

Got to go now. Mama wants to go for a ride and it's her Birthday!

Any more news on how this setup is working now that you've been running it for awhile? Saw this advertised last fall and have been tempted.

Well, I did this mod in 2014 and in 2022 it is still a mod that I am happy with.
Still running the same alternator, still working well.
